A Slayer's Confidant

Chapter 12

"Wake up!" A girl's voice echoed in his head. The ringing subsided but the voice had just appeared. "Wake up!" She cried. Naruto opened his eyes and found himself in a dark place. He looked at his hands. Am I, He though perplexed. Glowing? He looked up from his hands to see a girl with long blond pigtails and the same face as him only more feminine. His jaw dropped.

"Y-You're me!" He shouted pointing at the girl who crossed her arms. Her blue eyes showed a determination he didn't know how to describe. "You're," He fumbled with his words. Unable to believe what he was seeing.
"Come on! Sakura is in trouble! You need to save her!" The girl stated, impatiently. If this girl was his past life, her personality changes rapidly when times are tough. "Now listen here, are you just going to lay around and be weak while everyone else fights? Pathetic." She scowled. Naruto frowned at his past self. He didn't like being called pathetic. "Answer me, are you?"
"No," he replied barely above a whisper. She rolled her eyes at him, obviously trying to get under his skin as a way of motivation. She put her hand behind her ear.
"What?" She asked, acting as if she didn't hear him. Smirking, she watched him quiver in anger. He gritted his teeth, fists clenched. "I didn't hear you," She said, mockingly.
"I said no!" He shouted.
"That's what I thought, now wake up!"

    Naruto's eyes shot open for the second time - at least that's what it felt like. He groaned, his head pounding. "Naruto!" He heard a voice cry. The boy's eyes widened as he realized who was hugging him. His eyes softened, a smile tugging at his lips.
"Hinata," He began. "It's alright, I'm okay now." Hinata blinked before turning bright red. She jolted back, flustered.
"I-I-I'm sorry! I d-didn't mean to - wah!" She cried falling backward into Kiba's arms. The boy smirked at her.
"Still have a little bit of puppy love in you, Hinata?" Kiba asked teasingly.
"K-Kiba..." The girl touched her cheeks with her hands. "It's not like that! I-"
"I was only teasing," Kiba rolled his eyes. He wrapped his arm around her waist. "I know you're in love with someone else now." Hinata gasped, flushing for a different reason. D-Does he know? Hinata shifted, her eyes averted to the floor. It was then she felt herself be pulled away by her cousin, who seemed slightly angered by Kiba's flirtatious teasing.
"I don't think this is the time for your annoying pick up lines, Kiba." The boy snorted.  Kiba growled, glaring at the brunette in front of him. Hinata looked from Kiba to her cousin.
"C-Come on, you two this isn't the time to be fighting!" She pointed out. "N-Now, let's go help Saku-" Her eyes widened as the future clouded her vision. She began to shake, they were in deep, deep trouble - Sai was correct.
"Hinata?" Kiba called. "What is it? What are you seeing?"
"Shut up, you mutt." The other boy spat. Ino crossed her arms over her chest. She simply signaled for Sasuke to go help Sakura but before she could, Sasuke was already a head of her. She then looked at the bed to see Naruto had disappeared. This made her annoyed.
"Um, excuse me!" She shouted. "Neji, because you and Kiba are continuously arguing, Naruto disappeared while we weren't looking!" Ino explained. She sighed. "Let Kiba be Hinata's confidant already, geesh. We have bigger problems to worry about.
"Ino's right," Hinata said. "Please stop your unnecessary arguing and let's go!" Everyone nodded.
"Right!"

       Sakura, Naruto thought as he ran to find the exit to the mansion. He stopped immediately, almost running into Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro. "Please let me through! Sakura needs help!" Hang on, Sakura, I'm coming!
"You were injured and now you want to fight?" Gaara asked, completely against this idea. "Sasuke is already on the case, don't worry." Naruto frowned.
"But-"
"No buts," Temari spoke. "We're are already under attack anyway." She continued. Naruto's eyes widened.
"What?" On instinct, Gaara rushed in front of Naruto while five daggers darted toward them. Naruto turned around to see Gaara's blood splatter on the wall, floor, and himself. Shaken, he clumsily caught the red head, who was bleeding excessively.
"Gaara!" He cried. "Gaara hang on!" Temari stared, jaw slacked. She looked at the one who had done this.
"Who the hell are you?" She asked.
"My name is Leiko. I'm one of Lady Tayuya's Doki. I'm a very powerful S-class demon and skilled weapon wielder. I see you have what we came for." She chuckled. "Good, now hand him over or you won't get hurt like your little baby brother."
"No way!" If she's under the pier of Tayuya then she must work for Orochimaru.
Angered at the other girl's rejection, Leiko, snorted. "Then, you'll be sorry you every met me!" She raised her hand and sharp objects floated up. "Die!" She throw her arm toward them, directing the weapons. Kankuro managed to dodge the weapons as well as Temari and Naruto. Leiko's eyes widened. "What? What that brat go?" She looked around. When she finally spotted the boy she growled. "You can't run away from me!" She lunged  forward at Naruto but was stopped by a gushing wind. She looked at Temari who smirked.
"Not going to happen." She started. Leiko frowned but then smirked after concluding that maybe Temari would be a worthy opponent. This might just be a little more interesting than I thought.
