Bones

Little do we know how our building blocks slowly crumble away
Pulling the strings one by one, as we eat away our bones
How the night closes in fast as soon as the fading day
We look upon the east star in the sky
Unknowing of how it shines brighter
Like a glowing firefly
Our scars hide our past
Like sand washed from shore
The cold crippling winter buries our souls
From the heat wave of violent emotions
As we take in the morning breath of fresh air
We exhale our fears, our doubts into the atmosphere
As our bones crumble beneath the sheath of skin
Our souls stand tall and proud
Like a flag of freedom
We die
Only to live again.
