I swear to God that I didn't write that. I didn't even own a diary! Someone must've set me up and there was one person who came to mind. I seriously need to have a talk with her. This was getting out of hand.
First things first, I need to get rid of these. I looked down at the pile of insults beneath me. There was no point in reading those. Even an idiot could tell what they would be about. I kneeled down and picked up as much as my arms allowed me to and went to the nearest trashcan.
On my second trip to the trashcan, I happened to see Calvin. He probably knows where Alice is. I quickly threw the papers I was holding into the trash can and ran over to him.
"Where's Alice?" I asked him. There was no need to worry about the 0 period bell because my 0 period was just a study hall. My grades were above average. I didn't need to take this class, but no, my dad just had to go and request me to have it.
"Why should I tell you? I'm not answering that." He pushed past me and started to walk away.
"Alice and I need to talk." I held out my hands wide to block his way. "Tell me and I'll stop bothering you."
"I said, no!" he shouted loudly. Why won't she just freaking understand.. I didn't know she was the clingy type... she was using this as an excuse.. to see me huh?...
"Take this as a last favor for the 6 months we dated," I pleaded. I really needed to know where Alice was. We didn't have a single class together. He was the only person who would know. "Please tell me."
"Do you not understand what 'no' means?!?" He shoved me to the side and started to leave again.
People murmured around us. I glanced at them and heard their mind.
Is she trying to get him back or something...
She sounds so pathetic...
He's not her man anymore...
No, no. I can't let him go. He was my only source to finding Alice. She spreaded lies about me, she needed to pay. I needed to get some answers from her. Waiting until lunch was not an option. I might become a target for food throwing again. It was now or never. I was desperate. I left aside my self esteem and dropped onto the floor, grabbing onto the back of his leg. "I won't let go until you tell me," I said.
"What are the hell are you doing!?" he exclaimed. He shook his leg hard, trying to make me let go, but it wasn't as easy as he expected. I tightened my grip and repeated the same thing. "I won't let go until you tell me."
"You can't threaten me," he glared. "You just had to go choose the hard way." You asked for this yourself... you shouldn't have annoyed me... too bad... He bent down and peeled my hands off his legs. I landed on my butt and looked at him in horror. Calvin's nice, easy going attitude disappeared, replaced by something I've never seen before. He lifted his foot off the ground and aimed it at me.
I winced at the jolting pain on my side. My hands instinctively went to where it hurt and I looked up at him. He smirked. "How does that feel?" I didn't answer.
"Do you know how annoying you were?" Calvin asked me. "I was starting to get a headache because of you."
"I just wanted to know where Alice was," I muttered.
"Ask someone else, why don't you? You're so annoying," he complained. "You said you wanted a last favor? Here-"
He kicked me again. And again.
I felt pain all over. I shut my eyes and begged him to stop. "Please stop... please.. you're hurting me..." He didn't listen and kept kicking.
"How do you like that, Abbie?" he laughed. "How's that for a present?"
I don't know how many times he kicked, but I was really on the edge of losing my consciousness. He was a soccer player, you can guess how strong his kicks were. I truly thought I was going to die out here with no one to take my side and stop him when..
"I think that's enough, don't you think?" a voice spoke up from my whimpers and Calvin's laughs.
The kicking immediately stopped. I slowly opened my eyes and lifted my head up from the ground.
"I-I need to go to class," Calvin stuttered.
He left and the crowd dispersed.
"Are you okay?" he asked me. He held his hand out for me to hold on to. "Here, take my hand."
I reached for it and he carefully got me up on my feet. His hands were still as cold as the last time I touched it. "T-thanks." My body felt sore and I could tell that I was going to have a bunch of bruises tomorrow.
"Do you want me to take you to the nurse?"
"I-I'm fine. I just need to sit."
He lead me over to a bench nearby and we sat down next to each other. He stared at me quietly and I still couldn't get a read on him.
"I'll be right back." He ran off and came back a couple minutes later. In his hand, he was holding a bandaid and a tube of Neosporin.
I looked at him in confusion. Did I get a cut or something?
"You got a scrape on wrist," he explained. "I'll help you bandage it." He took my hand and gingerly applied the ointment on it with a Q-tip. I bit my lip to hold my the sting. When he was done, he finished it off by sticking a bandaid on it.
"Thanks. I should get to class now. Thanks again," I said, standing up.
He stopped me and made me sit down again. "You should rest a little longer. He kicked you pretty hard."
"I don't think that's-"
"Shh-" he interrupted me. "Close your eyes and I'll lend you my shoulder to rest on. Take a short nap or something. That was some trouble you went through." He pushed my head onto his shoulder and covered my eyes with his palm. The coldness of his hands made me shiver.
"It's-"
"Don't make me say it again." He wouldn't let me move and trapped me there on his shoulder. "Rest."
The peacefulness of the silent hallway. The soothingness of Benson's voice. The tiredness got to me. My eyelids grew heavy and I began to slip into slumber.
