The Secret

Chapter 15

"I don't know, I just found him like this," I told E as he put my brother on the couch in the living room. I was leaving my apartment and heading down the stairs when I saw my brother unconscious at the bottom of the steps. I panicked and called E who quickly came over here, I also called Daniel to tell him I would not be going to school. I've never seen my brother like this and I was afraid. He was always my strong hero and now he looked so vulnerable. E went to the kitchen and grabbed a wet towel. He handed it to me and I started to wipe at Ryder's face.

"What would cause him to just fall down stairs? That's just stupid," E said as he watched me take care of Ryder.

"Come on Ryder, you've been through worst then this. Wake up." I shook Ryder as hard as I could. He groaned and clenched his eyes and I smiled victoriously. 

"Kiddo, I'm trying to sleep stop shaking me," he groaned and pushed me. E caught me before I could fall on the floor. 

"Ryder, you almost killed your sister," E laughed and I shrugged out of his hold. I walked over to Ryder and gave him a big hug. He seemed surprised but hugged me back. I was so happy he was okay, he was the only family I had left. 

"I thought you were crazy Aura," he said and I broke the hug to look at him. 

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"When you told me about people freezing time and magical beings, I thought you were crazy. But I remember, I remember all of it. And I'm sorry for every doubting you," he said. 

"The hell are you talking about Ryder? You hit your head harder then I thought," E joked but no one laughed. I was surprised. Ryder actually remembered.

"You remember?" I asked ignoring E. 

"Yes, everything. Leaving the party and going to Daniel's house but it's sort of fuzzy after that," he said trying to concentrate on what actually happened that night.

I sat down next to Ryder and told E to sit on the opposite chair. I started by explaining what happened at the party. I told them everything Sabrina told me leaving absolutely nothing out. I was used to telling these guys everything anyways. I then talked about the ride to his house and how annoying they were. 

"You're lying," E said shaking his head. Ryder and I both told E to shut up at the same time and then laughed. It didn't look like we were having a serious conversation. I retold Ryder about the Guardians and this time mentioned everything each person did. That part was kind of hard since I didn't remember any of their names. I then went to tell them about my conversation and experience with Koli and how Daniel appeared in my room later.

"Oh and I'm friends with Grace again, I bet she's wondering why I didn't come to school today," I told them and they gave me incredulous looks. "What?" I asked confused.

"No one cares if your friends with Grace or not. How can you even talk about that when we're talking about witches?" E asked standing up and walking toward the kitchen. He came back with three glasses of ice tea and handed each one to us. 

"They are called Conjures, well the good ones are called that. The bad ones are called Nemesis," I corrected him and he rolled his eyes. I checked the time and was surprised that school was over. It didn't even feel like I have been talking for that long. "You guys are taking this rather well."

"Well, I remember everything. You are just filling in the blanks," Ryder told me. "Plus, I could tell E doesn't believe one word." 

"I don't," he said confirming it. It didn't matter if he didn't believe it or not because it happened. Maybe he would fall down stairs and gained back his lost memory. But that brings me back to how did Ryder fall?
