Lizzy's POV
"Lizzy, you're on in 5." The stage manager, Ethan, came into my dressing room.
I finished applying my makeup and helping Susie put her costume on as we stepped backstage. It's our first show on Usher's tour. I was his lead back up dancer. Justin wasn't in the crowd and I knew he wouldn't be. Things are over between us. It's like we never met.
"Lizzy we're going!" Tina, another dancer, snapped me out of my thoughts.
We all jogged to our places before walking into the fog onstage. The music started and we lifted our heads slowly as Usher walked dramatically onto the stage. The beat dropped, the lights turned on, the crowd went crazy, and we all danced to the beat.
Usher and I danced side by side and he touched me just to tease the crowd. We would dance so close I could hear him breathing, his sweaty, toned body was up against mine. And at the end of the show he placed his hand on my cheek and we gazed into each other's eyes as the lights went down. We all exited the stage and I went into the dressing room.
"Lizzy," I heard Usher jogging behind me. I turned around. "I just wanted to make sure all of this is okay with Justin first."
"You don't have anything to worry about." I wiggled my left hand, no ring.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that." He said.
"Me too." I said. "But it is what it is."
"Mind catching up over drinks?"
"Usher I'm 19." I laughed.
"Right, um just come to my tour bus. We'll chill there."
"Sounds good. I'll be there in about thirty minutes."
"Perfect." Usher smiled and walked away.
I went into the dressing room, Mariah and Nicky were whispering as I took off my costume. They giggled when I got dressed and continued to stare at me as I took out my hair and brushed it out.
"Hey Lizzy," Mariah finally said. "Next show, you're no longer up front."
"Says who?" I turned around and looked at her.
"Says Usher."
"I just talked to Usher. I'm pretty sure I'm still the lead dancer." I turned back toward the mirror.
"It's not fair," Nicky chimed in. "We deserve the front."
"Sorry he chose me," I shrugged.
"Whatever." Nicky said as they both walked out.
I finished brushing my long brown hair before going over to Usher's bus. I knocked on the door.
"Hey." He smiled as he let me in.
I walked in. His bus was bigger than Justin's tour bus. He sat on the couch and patted the cushion beside him.
"So how did you like the first show?" He smiled as I took a seat.
"It was great! I had a blast. Did I do okay?"
"You were perfect."
"Thanks." I smiled.
"What happened? Between you and Justin." He asked. "I'm so sorry, I totally didn't mean to seem so blunt."
"It's fine." I laughed a little. "Um things just didn't work out. He would always stay out too late and yell at me and he always put me down. I just got tired of it. When I left him, it was a good night. One of those rare nights where he was quiet and everything was okay. He laid beside me in bed and he was holding me. I hadn't felt that for awhile and I almost hesitated on leaving. But I had put up with it for so long that I just couldn't put myself through it. He changed a lot this past year and it was so hard for me to see it. It was all out of my control too." I found myself with tears in my eyes.
