The building was surrounded by people. Policemen with guns, one with a megaphone, and several reporters. I jumped out of the truck and ran over to a reporter who was about to start filming.
"What do you know about the incident?" I asked the woman.
"Who are you?" The lady said in a snide voice.
"I'm one of the employee's friends." I answered.
"Really?" The woman said, clearly not believing me.
"Yes, really." I said. "I was the girl who made the 911 call." I told her, wanting her to realize her mistake of being rude to me.
"Oh! That's amazing! You're a hero!" She said, obviously about to attempt to persuade me to do an interview.
"Yeah. Before you ask, I will NOT do an interview with you. You should've been nicer to me."
"Fine then!" She said, annoyed.
I walked over to a lady in about her mid-twenties.
"Hi there!" She said.
"Hello, ma'am. I'm the girl who made the 911 call." I said, pleased with her kindness.
"I'm willing to do an interview for you." I thought.
"Oh! Would you mind doing an interview for us?" The woman asked.
"Of course. Would you please tell me what news you have received? My friend is a worker there and I need to now that he's okay."
"I can only tell you what I know, but the man inside has been identified as Francis Rivers, a man aged 36, he has a wife and 5 kids. He has been arrested for domestic battery, theft, and he has multiple DUIs. He has no apparent motive to do this, but people think this is for money. He has threatened 3 people. A little girl aged 8, an elderly woman, believed to be the girl's grandmother, and a 17 year old boy whose name is supposedly Jacob. That boy is the one being held at knife-point. We don't know much more, but that's basically everything."
"Jacob? I have a friend in there named Jacob! Oh god!" I squealed. Suddenly, a memory flashed in my mind, blocking all other noise and motions out of my mind.
---FLASHBACK---
"Bunny! Hurry up!" I exclaimed.
I was 12 years old that day, hanging out with Bunny, Jake, and Zac.
"Jake fell!" Bunny yelled to me, across the creek.
"HELP!" I heard Jake scream. He sounded terrified.
"I'm coming!" I yelled, worried that he was hurt.
I ran across a fallen tree, through the stream, and ended up falling and hurting my leg. It felt like I twisted my ankle, but I was worried about Jake at the moment. I got up and felt pain rush through my leg and foot. I ran anyway, hoping that Jake was okay.
"You shouldn't have done that! She's probably so worried!" I heard Zac scold Bunny.
"It's funny! She's fine. Trust me!" Bunny said.
I hobbled over to the three of them, seeing Bunny and Jake sitting on a log, laughing.
"What's going on?" I asked, a look of shock on my face.
"I just, you just, your face!" Jake said in between laughs.
"You should've seen, you, just, you looked so!" Bunny said.
