Chapter 23: Sarah Blackley

Jesse's POV:

I hope this is the right house, from what I remember this is the right address. I look up and see a house that looked abandoned, brooding and neglected. The garden is overgrown. Sickly green weeds are creeping over the path. The light of the setting sun is reflected in the grimy windows. Someone actually lives here? I was quite disgusted, why would anyone let their house get this way.

Well Sarah would.

I trail through the overgrown weeds and bushes just to get to the front door. I hesitate at first, what am I gonna say to her, she doesn't even know me. I knock. No one answers, but I knock again as I can hear noises from inside. Normally I would knock once and if no one answers I would leave, it's common courtesy, but this is a life or death matter (literally). I knock I third time, this time harder and louder than before (that's what she said, sorry😂) "I know your in there Sarah, I can hear the TV!" I shout hoping that I got the right address.

Suddenly I hear foot steps getting louder and louder. Slowly the old door creaks open creating an eerie sound that nearly pieces my ear drums.

There she is. She looks in her 40's, brown hair with wisps of grey spotted here and there. It was short as well about shoulder length. She seemed tired, really tired and like she didn't want to be here. Here eyes are blue, just like Beca's. She has a strange scar across her right cheek, who knows where that came from.

"What do you want," she asks in a grumpy voice.
"Hi, I'm Jesse Swanson, I'm Beca Mitchell's boyfriend,"
"You need to leave now," She says whilst shutting the door on me. I stop it and push it open as I'm much stronger.
"Don't you even want to hear what I want to say?" I say, kind of shocked by her actions.
"No not really, I have nothing to do with Beca,"
"What! How can you say that! She's your daughter!" I shout.

She tries to shut the door on me again, but I saw it coming and swerve past and I'm now in her house. "Get out of my house, I haven't seen Beca in..." she pauses.
"Six years, you haven't seen your own daughter in six years," she starts walking away, even though in a stranger in her house.
"What do you want?"
"U need your help, Beca needs your help,"
"Why would Beca need my help, she hates me, any she has here dad," she starts walking away again.

"Beca is dieing!," I pause because I can barely say the words. "Beca harmed her self and lost alot of blood, and I mean alot, and your the only person that has the same blood type as her, she needs you Sarah,"Tears start forming in my eyes.
"Well I'm sorry, I can't help you," she sits down on her couch. Didn't she hear me, I just said her daughter is dieing, does that not mean anything to her?

"Why the hell not! I just said that your daughter is dieing and you do nothing. Beca means the world to me, she is my everything, if I lose her I don't know what I would do with myself. If I lose her, it will because of you, and I know its harsh to say that, but it true. It discusses me how much you care so little for her, your only child. Hey you may not care about her anymore, you may not care about anything anymore, but ther are a hell alot of people who care and love Beca, and no one, I repeat no one loves Beca more than me. She is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I know you loved her, and I know deep down you still do, no matter how depressed you are over your broken marriage, but look Sarah, that was 7 years ago, so get over yourself and do something useful for once," I shout, I think I was a bit harsh but I really needed to say it.

She just stairs at me, but then I see tears well up in her eyes. Suddenly she just breaks down on the floor crying. "I'm so sorry Jesse, I can't help her," she chokes.
"Why not?"
"She hates me, she hated me for abandoning her and not caring about her,"
"I'm sure she will forgive you if you try and help her, she only hates you because you forgot about her,"
"I never forgot about her, I just couldn't bare to look at her, she just reminded me of a happy family we once had,"
"You can make things right, but we have to safe her first, please do this, I'm begging you," I plead.

"Okay"
