Chapter 16

Chapter 16: Road to Recovery and Cute Dates
Rachel:

I wake up on the couch along with Max. I'm in his arms and he's dead asleep.

I make this last for a bit and enjoy his warmth. I notice the sun is seeping through the blinds. I grab my phone from the coffee table and see the time.

"Shit," I whisper, "It's 12:30 I need to get to the offices."

I start to get up. I carefully move upwards but I feel Max's hands tighten around my waist. I move more, and more, until I have my knee ready to prop me upwards.

Max's hands are tight around me but I try to manage it. I prop myself up from the couch, in little pain, but Max's hands pull me back down. I let out a yelp as I collapse back onto the couch.

I turn to Max, who's smiling like a 6 year old with candy, and I frown at him.

"Max, it's 12:30. We have to go."

Max looks up at me and sighs.

"Do I have tooooo?"

"Yes Max, we have to."

Max shuts his eyes again and sits up angrily in a funny way. He groans and sits up. I watch him stomp to the kitchen to grab cereal. I follow soon behind him.

He picks up a note on the desk. I stand behind him and read it. It's from Corey.

Went to the office, so did the others. Don't be late you two!

I smile at the letter and grab my own cereal.

"Damn." I hear Max say. "I have 23 missed calls from the guys."

"I guess you're late." I laugh.

"Guess so."

---Time skip; Offices.--

We were in the car, listening to music and slightly dancing along to it.

We make a right turn into the office parking lots and my smile turns into a frown.

I turn stiff when we park. I don't move at all, I just sit looking at the offices.

"Rach, you okay?"

I break from my trance "Y-yeah."

"Okay." He says.

We both get out of the car and begin to walk towards the office. I slowly trudge behind Max. I grab the backs of his shoulders and stick close to him. He turns around to me and looks at me.

"Babe, are you okay?" He asks when we get to the door.

"N-no." I say truthfully.

He grabs my shoulders lightly and looks into my eyes.

"Hey, hey, everything gonna be okay, you're gonna be fine."
