Chapter 26

Chapter 26: "Carter. Carter Jackson."

Rachel:
We begin to walk out of the hospital.

"Bye Dr. Shepherd! Thank you for helping!" I shout halfway out the door.

I see him smile as he turns to another intern named Dr. Grey.

We make it to the car with Alesa and Adam.

It's been 2 months since the accident, and I now know the gender of my baby. Everyone knows of course, but Max.

I texted everyone to set something big up. To set up the nursery at home with the color of the gender and to fill every inch of the ceiling with balloons of that color.

Max has no idea.

I still have a broken leg and Max has a broken arm. He had a broken nose but Dr. Slone had fixed that for him.

We begin to drive home and Alesa has a wide smile across her face. I smile as well thinking about Max's reaction to the gender.

We turn a left into a street close to home.

I hear Alesa's phone go off and look into the review mirror. Her expression changes from happy and excited to worry and rush.

She quick types something and looks up to the review mirror into my eyes. She keeps looking down towards my pockets as if signalling to look down.

I feel my phone buzz and rip it out of my pocket, knowing its urgent.

Alesa: Theyre not ready yet! Make up a stalling plan, quick!

Rachel: Why me?!

Alesa: You're sickly and in pain! Make up a place to go! Go to like, I hop or some shit! Quick! We're almost home!

I shut off my phone and look at the street to see there is no street.

There is a driveway though.

"Umm Max!" I say quickly.

"Yeah, babe?" He responds.

"Dang, im just feeling so sick, can we maybe go to Starbucks? Please?" I ask.

"Wait- is that a balloon in ou-" He questions before I cut him off.

"MAX! Im in pain I need starbucks!" I scream loudly.

"O-oh okay, uhh lets go." He says.

He throws the car back into reverse as we head down the road. I turn to Alesa and sigh. She seems relieved but still tense as hell! Calm down Alesa.

We continue down the road until we find the starbucks.

"YEE" Alesa screams, "STARBUCKS FOR LIFE!!"

We go in through the drive through. We wait and wait, we wait some more until the car in front of us finally moves.

"Geez how many drinks can you get?" Adam mocks.
