The three superheros were still invested deep in their conversation, unsure of a strategy or game plan. They stood restless in the shop. None of them spoke for a long time, knowing that the fate of Paris was in their hands.
"I'm so used to capturing his akumas in my magical yo-yo, is there even a logical way to defeat Hawk Moth himself?" Ladybug observed curiously, fidgeting with her hands.
The others grumbled, exhausted from a sleepless night and uncomfortable in their spandex suits.
There was another awkward moment of silence, but Nathanael finally decided to speak up.
"You guys stay here, I think I need to apologize. I acted like a jerk to (y/n). No matter who she is related to, it was the right thing to rescue her. But...er...I didn't. Don't you all see? She's under her dad's influence. I...I made a mistake not to realise this." Nathanael declared, a guilty small smile forming on his lips.
Ladybug and Chat Noir beamed back and nodded in approval, too sleep deprived to talk.
Nathanael's eyes welled up, taking a deep breath.
Sunlight streamed in through the window in sparkly, shimmering beams. It reflected off of the shiny tables, making the while room swell with light. Hope filled the air for the first time in two days, and the others seemed to see this too.
"You know what," the Dessinateur mused, "I never had the chance to thank you both. These last hours made me realize how lucky I am to fight along side you both.." But his voice trailed off to see them both curled up close to each other on the floor, catching up in well deserved sleep.
He smiled weakly, pushing the door open quietly, hearing the slight jingle above his head.
I'm going to fix everything, he thought giddily, striding out of the door.
Back to you
You clambered along the empty hallways of your house, your converse echoing along the corridor. Last night was restless, for you had nightmares of Nathanael.
Rejection after rejection, his disappointing stare. The bland tone of his voice and the lack of emotion towards you.
It got worse each time. Each sentence, eating away at your sanity.
You felt like you were in through an tunnel of emotion, constantly sinking farther into the depressed abyss.
Your father turned around the corner, spotting you nervously stroking the fabric of your dress.
He walked over to you gingerly, as if he was slightly regretting his decision to.
"Dad?" You croaked, standing upright.
Hawk Moth pursed his lips before saying: "you poor thing. So hurt and angered by Nathanael's harsh words. Such a shame you haven't asked what my plans are for revenge on him." He gave you a look as if you were supposed to say something, impatiently tapping his staff.
You stared at him bleakly, letting out a short breath.
"I can't believe he'd reject me so suddenly and...I don't know...will revenge solve anything?" You pondered, seeing that your dad was most likely up to something.
He snarled at you, prodding you with the point of his staff.
"Can't you do anything right? Don't you respect our family linage? We don't forgive, we don't love! We strive for power! I thought you were the generation, after all these years of trying to take back what once was ours." Hawk Moth raged.
You stepped back, gulping. You had never seen him this angry before, and this was absolutely terrifying.
His tall figure cast a shadow upon you, and you swear you shrank a few inches smaller.
Eager to escape the conversation, you breathed in deeply, forcing a short laugh. You turned around and ran, having no idea where you were going.
Eventually you found yourself running outside, down the silent streets and over deeply unconscious citizens. Guilt and grief clung to you like glue, knowing that everything was your fault.
You needed to end the pain...
But that's when you saw him.
