The sun was setting, casting a pink glow over the deserted city. Birds flapped lazily past the empty buildings, the only sound to be heard.
You and Nathanael walked swiftly across the dusty streets, gripping each other's hands tensely.
Ladybug and Chat Noir were still back at the old shop, Nathanael had explained. Both of you needed to get back before Hawk Moth did anything spontaneous.
Your cheeks glowed bright red as you peered in Nathanael's direction. He was looking ahead, anxiously dragging you around the city towards the shop.
Wind flew through your hair, flinging behind you. Still dazed, you had just realized that your drawing books had been lost in the akumatized tornado. Your stomach sank despite the giddy feeling in your chest.
I just kissed Nathanael. I fluffing KISSED him. Ohmygod ohmygod. This is the best and worst day of my life at the same time. Am I dreaming??
The sun began to rise further, your shadow dancing off of the brightened buildings.
"And...we're here." Nathanael announced, jogging to a stop. He looked out of breath and extremely hungry, for you and him had not slept or eaten that day.
You hesitantly placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Maybe we should grab something from the counter." You suggested weakly, pushing the glass door open. It jingled with life, waking up a snoring Marinette and Adrien.
You both stepped inside, giggling at Adrien. He had awoken with a jolt, nearly banging his head on the table above him.
He smiled brightly, getting up from underneath the table where him and Marinette were curled up.
"You're back! And um, is there something that you need to share with us?" He laughed, gesturing to your and Nathanael's interlocked hands.
Both of you blushed furiously, making the gap (which honestly wasn't that big) between you both wider. Your hands pulled apart awkwardly.
But before anyone could say anything else, Marinette popped up behind Adrien. She jumped and hugged him from behind, looking like a wolf catching prey.
"Mooorning kitty." She purred, pecking him on the cheek. Adrien's face flushed red as he let out a sigh of defeat.
"I see we haven't told you as much as we should either..." He chuckled as Marinette beamed. *adrienette/ladynoir because why not?*
You all began laughing, a small bit at first, but it soon turned into a fit. The room erupted with roars of laughter, everyone relieved to let everything out.
Your stress soon melted away as you stared at your best friends, longing for that moment to last forever.
Eventually, you all giggled into silence, awkwardly easing out of that moment of pure hysteria. Sighing, everyone sat down down at the bar. You all gathered up as much food as you could.
After what seemed like forever, a proper meal was prepared and everyone began to dig in. The Kwami's zoomed out of their coat pockets, desperately scarfing down every morsel they could lay their hands on.
"Hey! Slade!" Nathanael gasped as his cinnamon roll was stolen from him. Slade stuffed it down his mouth greedily, receiving an annoyed stare from Nathanael.
Everyone laughed with their mouths full and continued to eat. Even Nathanael cracked a smile.
After breakfast
"Man, I'm surprised Hawk Moth hasn't come looking for us yet." Adrien exclaimed, leaning back in his chair.
"And we're lucky too." Marinette noted, lightly hitting him in the arm. Adrien sat back up guiltily.
You looked back and forth, uneasy about the tension.
"How about we figure out what we're going to do?" You began, trying to sound hopeful. "These people who are still unconscious haven't eaten in a whole day, and look at us, sitting around stealing from a bakery." You stood up and backed away from the table.
"We need a strategy, and fast. Adrien, Marinette, you weren't sitting around were for nothing, were you not? What have you both come up with?" You inquired, feeling looks of respect aimed towards you.
"Well," Marinette started slowly. "This is what we're going to do..."
