Wow, 20 chapters in, and you're still reading?
Also sorry that last chapter was kinda... Blah.
Apparently, Adrien and Marinette don't have great chemistry in my mind.
Well, you should've seen how many drafts I went through of chapter 18 before it was okay....
Thanks for sticking through until chapter 20, you're all #baes.
(Especially the ones that comment and vote!!)
And on with the story!!!!!!!!!!!!!•
Hey Marin...
I unlock my phone to see the rest of the concealed text.
From Adrien? My mind was squealing, but I turned down the volume on my fangirling, and read the rest of the message.Hey, Marinette! Could I come hang out? We still haven't gotten crépes yet!
My eyes widened, and I couldn't mute my fangirling anymore.
ADRIEN WANTS TO "hang out"!!!!!?!!!!!!?!!?!
I was clutching my phone, squealing and jumping around the room.
Tikki immediately rushed over to help me.
"Marinette!! What's the matter!?!"
"Adrien!" I squeal, catching Tikki in the air, and making her jump around with me.
"Mari-" Tikki squirmed out of my grip, and hovered next to me.
She grabbed my cheeks and forced me to look at her.
"What's up with Adrien?" She said, her eyes growing wide.
"He wants to hang out!" I squeal.
"Chat Noir-"
"Tikki, this isn't about Chat Noir!" I say, turning away from her.
"Yes it is!" She says, hovering next to me again, "You and Chat Noir haven't been on patrol in a very long time, and what if tonight is the night he comes back? You won't know because you'll be goggling over Adrien."
"Goggling?"
"Yes. What if an Akuma comes, and Adrien is stuck in your house, with you, and you can't turn into Ladybug because then Adrien will wonder why you left him, and then he'll figure out you're Ladybug and tell the whole school!"
"Tikki, Adrien wouldn't do that, and Chat's fine on his own. Besides, Hawkmoth hasn't been active lately, and it hasn't even been a week since Latred attacked. He's not going to send an Akuma out again, when everyone is sick-" My sentence was cut short by a sneeze that rocked the house.
I stumbled a bit, and Tikki's eyes widened. A few picture frames of Adrien got knocked over in the sudden quake.
"Uh... Marinette? What was that?" Tikki asked nervously.
Just as she said that, my phone on the table buzzed.
"I... Tikki, time to transform..." I said nervously, beckoning to her. "Spots on!" I say, and she spiraled into my earrings.
A tight, red and black polka-dotted suit wraps around me, molding to my skin.
As my mask covered my face, I wondered how Chat got into his suit with casts on...
I grabbed my phone and checked who texted me.Maybe right now wouldn't be a good time.
Yeah... I think to myself internally, quickly texting back a agreeing reply.
I ran outside via the front door, and glanced into the sky. The sneeze came from the right, towards the school.
I began swinging from lampposts, vaulting onto rooftops, and leaping from rooftop to rooftop in a deadly game of parkour. Once I reached the school roof, I halted, skidding a bit on the rocky roof.
I glanced behind me, hearing a whoop of glee, and saw Chat Noir flying onto rooftops, graceful as a cat... Towards my parent's bakery.
"Chat!!" I call, cupping my hands around my mouth, then slapping my hands over my mouth.
The Akuma... Or just really loud sneezer probably heard me.
I squatted down, then slammed onto my belly, concealing my bright body.
Chat Noir saw me, and vaulted onto the school's roof.
"Hey there..." He says, a hand draped over his knee, himself sitting on his ankles. One of his hands and one of his ankles was wrapped tight in a tan bangage, clashing with his entirely black attire. A smirk was painted on his face. I growled.
"Whoa, there, Alley Cat... No need to get fiesty." His eyebrow raised, and he smiled at me, tauntingly.
"Get down." I say simply.
He gets down onto his belly next to me, his chin resting in his hands.
"Sooo..." He says, drawling on, dipping his eyelashes at me.
"Don't you flirt with me, you're probably sick." I frown, scooting away from him.
He looks over at me.
"So... Why are we doing this?" He says, frowning at me. "I mean, sitting on our stomachs..."
"I..." I start, getting up onto my knees.
He scrambles up, getting to his feet before me, and lends me his hand.
I take it, and he hauls me up.
"You heard the sneeze?" I question.
"Mmhm. That's why I'm out here." He says.
"Don't get snarky with me, Chat Noir." I remark, walking to the edge of the roof. "Look for a large crowd of people." I say, glancing around Paris. He smirks, glancing at me quickly, then looking away.
"Lucky for you, I have great eyesight." He says, crossing his arms, peering at the familiar landscape of our home-town.
"There!" We say, simultaneously, pointing. Then glaring at each other. I glance away quickly, my cheeks turning red.
"C'mon. Let's not bicker about this. We're a team and we have to work together." I say, pursing my lips at him.
I grab his hand, and squeeze it, then let it go quickly, falling off the roof.
I quickly catch myself with my yoyo wrapped around a lamppost, and keep swinging, Chat Noir close behind without even a reaction to my falling off the roof.
We land in the park that me, Manon and Adrien had been in just hours before.
"Where-" I start to say, glancing at Chat Noir, before a giant sneeze shook us off our feet. I fell on top of him, my hands pressed against his chest.
His eyes widened before he grinned cheekily at me, scratching the back of his neck.
I clamber off of him, and get to my feet, brushing the dirt off my attire, Chat doing the same.
"There." Chat Noir said, in a low squat.
He rose to his feet, and followed after me.
I jogged over to where the large crowd of people was, and began shouting for people to clear the way, waving my hands above my head.
I began to hear poetry being read from a book I recognized instantly.
"I cannot go to school today... Said little Peggy Anne McKay." The voice slowed to a well timed stop. "I've got the measles and the-" The melodic voice stopped and smiled down at the book. "So nice of you to join our little poetry reading... Ladybug!" He glanced up at me and broke out into a huge smile. "Oh, and look! You've brought your little cat sidekick with you!" He waggled his fingers at Chat.
"What- what are you doing?" I ask, mesmerized.
"Oh, just a little poetry re-ACHOO!" A giant sneeze shook the ground, and everyone around the boy stumbled.
Nobody was very fazed though, staring at the slinky boy in a knight costume.
"Ah... Excuse me." He sniveled, "Just getting over a cold..." He smiled up at me again, and winked quickly.
My eyes widened.
What was that supposed to mean?
I felt Chat's hand rest on my shoulder defensively. I looked at him, my eye brow raised, and he grinned.
"Who are you?" I asked, craning my neck to see him better. There were still a bunch of people crowded around the boy.
"Oh! Yes, introductions! You know they do this in Theatre Camp, except we have to come up with an adjective that starts with the same letter our name starts with... Oh, well you wouldn't care about that." He smirked up at me, "I," he proclaimed loudly.
"Am Sir Snot-a-lot!"
