The walk took over two hours... Which annoyed me as I more than likely could have ran the whole way much quicker if not for the fact I had to follow Spring while carrying his friend.
Anyways, once we made we were standing in front of a pretty good sized building. I turned my head at the note on the side of the building.
"Hero association signups." I read out loud. "Hey Spring? What does it mean by... Sign... Ups?" I said as I turned my head, only to find that Spring was no where to be found.
"Wait didn't he forget his buddy as well?" I asked myself, looking at my shoulder to see that he was gone as well. "What the hell!" I said with exaggeration. "Those two jerks left me here without telling me what the hell I'm supposed to be doing!" I yelled towards the sky.
"E- Excuse me sir...?" I heard a meek voice say to me.
I looked back down and saw a woman in a business suit. She was diverting her eyes away from me as well as hiding behind her clipboard.
I opened my mouth to say something but couldn't muster up the will to do so. 'Dammit! That's one thing I forgot to include in my training!' I yelled internally.
Even after training myself to be the strongest I could be I never once trained myself to talk to girls.
The woman looked at me oddly as I ranted to myself. I stopped and took a deep breath. "Okay... Okay... What did those dvd's that I used to watch say about talking to girls?" I said out loud without knowing it.
I cleared my throat and took one more deep breath. I stared at the woman. 'Okay, you can do this!' I thought to myself, pumping myself up.
I opened my mouth to say something but the woman cut me off.
"S- Sir, are you here for the tryouts?" She asked shyly.
My eye twitched and I blushed. The woman looked at me oddly, and about jumped out of her skin as I let out what sounded like a garbled mess and ran inside.
"I... I'll take that as a yes..." She said as she began writing down a sign up sheet on her clipboard. She then took her phone out and took a picture, sending it to a number on her phone.
================================================================================
I was breathing heavily as I leaned against a wall. I put my hand over my chest and sighed, a smile coming over my face. "That went... Great!" I said praising myself for my first interaction with a woman in over three years.
My good mood ended as I snapped out of my fantasy. "Yeah right... You couldn't have botched that any worse..." I said, leaning over in a gloomy manner.
I stood up straight. "Now that the embarrassing escapade is over... Where do I go?" I asked myself. I scanned the room that I was in. My eyes met a giant sign that said "Registration" I put my hand to my chin. "Hmmm... I guess that might be it."
I walked towards the opening that the sign led me to as I walked in an odd fashion, swinging my arms in a happy way.
I came into the new room and looked around in awe. "This place looks much bigger than it does on the outside..." I said, my mouth agape.
All around the room there was many different people standing around many different types of equipment and others things of that nature.
"Sir." I turned my head and saw a tall muscular man sitting behind a desk. "Oh... H- Hello." I said, caught off guard by the man.
"Were you the one who spoke to our head count woman outside?" He asked me.
I smiled. "Who? Her? Yeah, the two of us hit it off pretty well."
He raised an eyebrow at me. "Really? Well from what she told us to look for she said. "Look for a weird looking man wearing some sort of weird clothes." That is what she said."
I laughed awkwardly. "Oh... Heh heh..."
"You're here for the Hero signups right?" He asked to confirm. I rubbed the back of my head. "If that will get me a haircut and a place to sleep then yeah." I said nodding my head.
He typed something down on the computer and pointed over to a track. "Go over there, that will be your first test."
I stuck my head up. "Okay." I said gleefully.
"What a weird guy..." The man said under his breath. "I take weird as a compliment!" I yelled back as I continued to walk.
I came up to other men and they lined up on each lane of the track. "Good, the last guy is here." I looked in front of myself and a man in a coach getup was writing something down.
"Line up there and wait for the gun to go off." He said, pointing over to the eighth lane with his pencil. I looked behind myself and reached for the clips to my weighted clothes.
"Look at this idiot, he brought an assault vest to the tryouts." I heard one of the other contestants say.
"Yeah, doesn't he know that it will only weigh him down?" Another one said with a laugh.
That set something off in my head. I stopped myself from removing my weighted add-ons. Instead I believed that it would be enjoyable to beat these guys in a race while still wearing them.
"On your mark!" I got into position
"Get set!" I readied myself.
"Go!" I ran.
"Winner!?" I won.
I looked back and saw the other racers only just now hitting the five meter line.
I smirked at them and walked off.
The rest of the events went pretty much the exact same. Everywhere I went I dominated the field. "Is this what it takes to be a hero?" I asked myself. I was rubbing my forehead head with a towel and a woman came up to me.
"Sir, there is one more thing you must participate in." She said to me.
I smirked. "And what is it?" I asked.
"It's a written exam." I paled. 'My life is over...' I said as I lazily followed the women to the next testing room.
A/N Thank you for reading guys! I hope you enjoyed the chapter, things are finally starting to pick up steam! Thanks again!
