Tip #2: Booking and travel

Okay, so you found your nearest convention. The next thing is you have to do is to book your tickets ahead of time. Same goes with booking a hotel room.

You have to think if you want to go for one day or the entire weekend. If you're going for the entire weekend in the next town or city over, book a hotel room near the convention so you won't be spending a ton on travel fare and you have a place to chill out for a while and drop your stuff at. The hotel has to be pretty near to the con. Like a short walking distance from the place you're staying and where the con is held.

You have to book a hotel room months in advance because the hotel would be fully booked fast.

If you have friends or family members (like cousins/siblings) who are interested in going, it'll lower the cost of the hotel room when everyone put some money in the jar.

Sometimes the convention is placed at a hotel, so it'll save you some money on travel.

If you're on a bit on a tight budget, I recommend booking a room at a hostel.  Depending how far the hostel is from the convention. If you want to pinch an extra few pennies, try booking something from AirBnB. The prices start from roughly around £/$/€7-8. Depends on what part of town/city the place is.

Also study the map of the town/city where the con is held. You'll be very lost in the town/city that you don't know. Also know the local timetable for the buses, trains, trollies or the subway (no, not the fast food sandwich chain). Incase you're staying far from the con.

Please, for the love of god and that is holy, DON'T EFFING WRECK YOUR HOTEL ROOM OR THE HOTEL ITSELF!!! It gives us con goers a bad name. The hotel already has to deal with drunks, entitled people, annoying kids/teenagers, etc. They don't need more reasons to hate the con (if it's being held within the hotel and the MAIN REASON why the prices of the hotel room and con ticket go up each year) and the con-goers.

There's a story that a female con-goer (I'm guessing she's roughly around college age), she wouldn't come out of the bathroom after a long period of time because her roommates needed to get to their stuff and she wouldn't let her hotel roommates to use their stuff and the bathroom. So her roommates somehow opened the bathroom door, the entire bathroom was covered in permanent in and alcohol. She was trying to turn her skin grey for a cosplay a different way instead of using body paint (you can guess what fandom she's in with one guess). Her roommates stuff was also ruined with the ink and the dumb roommate was kick out and the roommates had to pay for the damages and was transferred to another room. I'm guessing that dumb roommate went to hospital for what she did to herself.
