Tip #5: Respect

Treat others like you want to be treated.

Be respectful to other fandoms, despite you not like the fandom for certain reasons. I know that several years ago people had bitched at the Twilight fandom was ruining cons. So I've heard.

Please treat other con goers with respect and don't cause drama. Drama at a con will not only ruin your experience at a con but your friends, family and other con goers as well. It can happen the other way around. No matter what.

Don't go touching a cosplayer's prop(s) or parts of their costume that they worked on without their permission, like Castiel's or Gabriel's wings (Supernatural) or Ruby's scythe (RWBY). They have worked very hard on them and they don't want their cosplay and their props ruined/broken. Hell, DO NOT GROP THE PERSON! You'll be kicked out of the convention faster than the Quicksilver/Flash or be banned from the convention for life.

Plus don't go saying that their cosplay is terrible and it's not exactly like the character from a game, book or etc. They have been working on the costume for months and you're putting them down if you're saying that. Plus they will think that you're asking for a punch in the face.

Also don't go saying that cosplayers aren't true fans just because they dress up as a character from a certain show, game, book, anime or film. They'll think you're a complete asshat for saying that.

Kindly ask a cosplayer if you can take their picture. Just don't go up to them while they're eating or resting. Their cosplays can be hot, tiring and/or heavy to wear for them. They're human like you and me.

Don't touch them inappropriately.

Don't rudely take it.

Don't take their pictures at bad time.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE PICTURES MAINLY OF COSPLAYERS CHESTS OR BUTTS! This goes out to both (or all) genders. The cosplayers will feel violated if you take a picture a certain part of their body. Believe me. I have heard con stories about that. Check out Vivid Barnacle's YouTube channel about that.
