"That slide was so cool!" I cheered happily as Braydon gave me a piggyback ride into the house.

Oakley laughed, "And you were afraid of riding the stupid thing."

Braydon let me down and I ran over to Daniel throwing my arms around his neck, "Thanks for going down it with me, brother. I couldn't have done it without you."

He quickly detached himself from me, "Yeah, well, it was really no big deal."

"Well thanks anyway."

He nodded. I turned to my friends, "So what should we do tonight?"

"Oakley said something about you guys having a home entertainment system, we could have a movie night like old times." Carter said.

"I like the way you think, only, I don't know how to get to this movie room that you speak of."

Oakley laughed, "I'll show you the way."

"Okay, we just have to stop by our rooms before you show us where it is."

Oakley looked at me like I was crazy, "Do I even want to know why?"

I laughed, "Because we can't have movie night without our pajamas and sleeping bags, duh!"

"So you're planning to spend the night in the home theater room?"

"Uh, duh, again."

Oakley just shook his head and followed us up the stairs. "You sure you, Daniel, and Holden don't want to watch with us?"

"Nah, I've got a party I'm going to, Holden and Brittany are hanging out, and Daniel's going to the same party I'm going to."

I nodded and let him lead us the rest of the way to the movie room in silence.

You know how I told you that Jessica had money? Well she must have been born into money like my dad, because this house is huge.

I guess I never really did describe it did I? It's not like mansion-sized huge, but there are four floors.

And get this, the third and forth floors belong just to the kids.

And that's not counting the attic, but according to Holden no one goes in the attic.

Anyway, the in-home-movie theater was on the forth floor. Once he had showed Gavin how to work everything Oakley left to go to his party.

I was only slightly upset that they hadn't stayed with us, but then again, I needed some alone time with my boys.

"So what movie should we watch?"

"Something scary!" Joey and I answered at the same time.

The others laughed, Joey and I always wanted to watch scary movies and yet were the ones that got scared the easiest.

Oh well, nobody's perfect.

"How about, Arachnophobia?" Carter asked.

I shuddered, I hated spiders, "I like the idea of going for a older movie - they're always scarier, but I think we can do without the spiders."

"Oh! We could watch the 1973 version of "The Wicker Man," that's a pretty good movie," Aaron said.

"We watched it last week, you retard!" Joey reminded him.

"Oh yeah, I forgot."

"Pet Cemetery?" Braydon asked.

I shook my head, "I like Steven King, but…"

"That movie totally freaks me out!" Gavin yelled.

"Nightmare on Elm street?"

"They kill Johnny Depp! No!"

"I should have known that the future Mrs. Johnny Depp would not have gone for that movie."

I hit Carter upside the head, "Oh shut-up, you!"

We argued over which movie to watch for about twenty minutes before we finally agreed on "Ju-on", the Japanese and original version of "The Grudge".

Which if you ask me was a pathetic excuse for a scary movie.

"The Grudge" I mean, not "Ju-on".

Believe me, "Ju-on" is seriously scary.

We're also going to watch "The Shining" after that.

What can I say? I like Steven King.

I settled into the couch, safely sitting between Carter and Gavin. They laughed at the fact that I was holding their hands before the credits even ended.

"What's wrong, chica?"

"I'm scared."

"The movie hasn't started yet, babe."

"I know, but it's going to be scary."

"We can stop it if you want to," Braydon said.

I looked at him with wide eyes, "Are you kidding me? No, I don't want to stop it, you dolt! What do you think I am? A little kid? Psh, I can handle a scary movie."

"Whatever you say."

"Speaking of boys, what's with you and Daniel?" Aaron asked.

My eyes got wide, "We weren't talking about boys, Aaron."

"But now that we are, what's going on with you and Daniel?"

"Nothing."

"I don't believe her, do you?" Joey asked the others.

They all shook their heads.

Not one of them believed me.

And why should they? They were my best friends. They knew me better than I knew myself.

They knew when I was lying, even if I didn't know that I was.

"He would never like me." I whispered.

Daniel's Point of View

When I got back to the house after the party I quietly walked up to the forth floor and peeked into the movie room.

The movie was done because the lights were off, and the only light came from the soft glow of the hallway lights.

I crept into the room to see if I could find Taryn.

There she was cuddled on the couch with Gavin. I glared for a second, but then I reminded myself that I had no claim to Taryn so I could not get mad about this.

Besides, who could glare when they're looking at an extremely beautiful girl snuggling with a six-foot tall giraffe stuffed animal.

I know I can't.

I bent down and kissed her lightly on the forehead before leaving the room only to run into Oakley.

"Don't," he said.

"I wasn't doing anything -"

"Save it Daniel. You're my brother, so I have to love you, but she's a good girl and she doesn't need to get wrapped up in all of your shit, so just don't."

With that he walked away, but then he turned back around, "I figure that tomorrow we could introduce her to some of the kids at school, so that - you know, she won't be totally friendless once school starts."

I nodded, still thinking about his warning. Why is it that my own brothers seemed so convinced that I was going to do something to Taryn.

"And I'm inviting Jake."

I frowned at the name, but I didn't say anything. That jerk wasn't even worth my breath.
