It's weird to think that you were about to die, when in reality, you were just waking up from a coma. What's even weirder, is to be slightly dissapointed you weren't dying. The weirdest thing though, is opening your eyes and forgetting why you were just confused. That's exactly what happened to me.
I glanced around the plain white room in curiosity and confusion. Why I was confused was beyond me. I tugged at the sheets of the bed I was in and noticed I was missing my left calf and foot. Then I noticed my arms were lined with tattoos and I had a belly button ring and a tongue stud. I looked over the tattoos. Eifel Tower, a heart made out of the clefs, Breakeven- whatever the heck that means- and Before You Exit -again, whatever the heck that means. I looked around the room again and noticed a small button next to my bed that said 'nurse'. I poked it and layed back in my bed, making myself comfortable. A young woman popped her head into the door and smiled at me.
"Hi honey. I'm Ally. I'm just going to go get the doctor really quick so we can do some tests, alright?" Ally said.
"Okay, thank you." I said politely. Ally left my room and came back about 5 minutes later with a very pretty woman in a white labcoat.
"Hi there. My name's Doctor Jane Reese. You can call me Doctor, Dr. Resse, Jane, whatever you like." Dr. Reese said. I nodded, signaling for her to go on. "Okay sweetie, do you know where you are?"
"No, I don't sorry." I shyly said.
"That's alright. You're at Fairway Hospital in Orlando, Florida." Dr. Reese said. "Now, what's your name?"
"I don't know...." I said, trailing off to try and remember it.
"Oh no. Ally, go get the boyfriend please, but don't tell them what's going on. She didn't show any signs of brain damage when she was under..." Dr. Reese mumbled. Ally left the room in search for my 'boyfriend'.
"I have a boyfriend?" I asked.
"Yes, you do. He's very sweet." Dr. Reese said, giving me a fake smile. I could see the worry in her eyes.
"I'm sorry I can't remember anything...." I said, looking down at my lap.
"Oh, Lindsey, it's not your fault." Dr. Reese said, placing her hand on mine.
"Is that my name? Lindsey?" I asked.
"Yes. Your full name is Lindsey Elizabeth Silvers." Dr. Reese said, smiling at me.
"That's pretty. I like it." I smiled. Just then, Ally walked into the room with a very tall man who looked in his early 20's, his eyes bloodshot.
"We'll leave you two alone." Dr. Reese said. I nodded and watched her leave before I looked at the boy who was now sitting next to me.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" I asked in the nicest way possible. The boy smiled at me and rolled his eyes.
"Okay Lindsey, it worked the first time, but it's not going to work again." He said, grabbing my hand. I took it out of his grip and looked at him, confused.
"I honestly don't know what you're talking about." I said. The boy's smile dropped and he just looked at me for a second before he spoke again.
"You don't remember anything?" He asked, his voice small and scared now.
"No. I'm sorry." I said quietly, looking down at my hands again.
"I'm Braiden. Your boyfriend." Braiden said hopefully, like if he said that sentence my whole life would come right back to me.
"I'm sorry, but you look a little old to be my boyfriend." I said quietly.
"I kinda am. 5 years isn't that much in the long run." Braiden said, a small smile appearing on his face.
