Kita exited Tina's room and jump when Snowy tapped her on the shoulder. "Damn, I think you're the only person who can sneak up on me. Something the matter?"

Snowy shook her head. "No, just waiting for you. How's she doing?"

"She's doing better, more responsive. She even let me sit on the bed. She keeps trying to talk, but can only make a few sounds. What's more depressing is she can't regenerate. Almost all of her nanites are fried from that brine she was in, except for the healing set. Those they turned inside out, causing her pain instead of healing. Harper says they can't flush them from her system either. Whoever did this knew how to break the pass code and they can't give the kill command. Omega's helping them, but even he said it's going to take a while. Those of us that have nanites are going to have our security codes reset so we don't end up the same way."

Snowy wrinkled her nose. "Nanite warfare? That's new."

"One more thing to watch out for. Do you want to see her?"

Snowy looked down and shook her head. "I don't think that would be a good idea. She and I weren't on very good terms when things fell apart. I don't want to upset her."

"I would have thought she'd have been supportive."

"She did support me in the beginning, but as things changed she became more hostile. Tina took it upon herself to be your personal representative. I wish I'd listen to her." Snowy's shoulders slumped.

Kita gave her a hug. "Hey, we're over that, right? We'll finish cleaning up the mess, but the blame's been assigned. You've taken your fair share, taken the lumps for it, learned the lesson, and have moved on, right?"

Snowy smiled shyly and nodded.

"Good. What have you been up to, love?"

"I was down with Vanouse for a while. He's taken an interest in the engineering of the Demon suit. He's impressed they got that thing to work with the materials and tools available. We ended up again discussing why you, I, and the rest of us fight. I still don't think he gets it." "What'd you tell him?"

"I should have told him my first instinct, because it's fun, but instead I told him we do it so others don't have to. He thinks it's a waste of my talents." Snowy rolled her eyes.

"Don't listen to him. You're by far the most talented and skilled person out there. You've got the brains and the claws, rare combination. And your mine." Kita gave her a hug and a kiss.

"Come on." Snowy broke away, dragging Kita by the hand.

She led Kita to the large viewing area. It contained benches, flower boxes, and trees. Near the window were two chairs and a table covered with a white cloth. Candles and silver serving trays sat on the table. Snowy guided Kita down the staircase and presented the table to her.

"This is for me?" Kita said astonished. No one had ever made her a romantic dinner.

"It's my way of saying thank you for all you've done for me and I'm sorry for all the pain I've caused. I have one more thing." Snowy reached under the table and pulled out a big bouquet of blood-red and black roses. "I don't know your favorite flower, but I hoped you like these."

Kita stuck her face in to smell the flowers. When she looked up she had tears coming down her cheeks.

"Are you ok?" said Snowy.

"No one's ever done anything like this for me before or given me flowers. Their beautiful," Kita threw hers arms around Snowy in a big teary hug. When Kita let go, Snowy seated her and took the top of the plate.
