Walking through the thick black fog, Sarin watched as the body dissolved into nothingness. It was the last one. There had been more undead than she thought. Five outposts had been infected, each with their own octopus leader.
From the last leader she'd cut of a piece for study. She'd also taken samples from the brute elves, as she'd named them, and the pencils. She was sure Megan would find them interesting.
Another checking the rooms, she felt satisfied she'd eliminated everything in the outpost. Fading into the fog, she reappeared in the VIP bathroom. Taking out the security link, she directed the central environmental systems to start venting all the outposts. She directed the air to vent the fog into the water purification system where it would be broken down into harmless elements that could be removed by the filters.
Stepping out of the VIP room, she found Slaughter and Russia waiting dutifully for her. She giggled at Slaughter as he shook Phoenix from his roost on one of the spikes coming from the top of his head. Phoenix protested before gliding up to roost on Sarin's wing.
"Life is so hard isn't it?" War cooed to the bird while stroking its beak. "Come, everyone. Let's go finish what we've started."
They continued through the rooms removing the scattered undead. Working their way to the mess hall, Sarin thought about the best way to take control of the brute elves. Taking out her security link she sealed the door and snuck into the kitchen. Sealing the door behind her she went to the opening between the kitchen and the mess.
With a loud bang she slammed the pass-through door closed. She produced a yellow tinted fog as the brute elves came to investigate. When the pass-through opened, the mind control fog engulfed the elves.
Sarin didn't move until the gas had filled the mess hall.
"Line up in two rows facing each other," she ordered.
The elves lined up.
"Punch the elf across from you."
After they complied, she came out of the fog. Waving a hand, she cleared the air.
"Hello, my pets. I'm glad to see you're more than just teeth and claws. There's a little brain in there. You will obey my every command without hesitation. Nothing will stop you. You will attack relentlessly until I tell you to stop."
She opened the door and let in the animals. She gave them a chance to introduce themselves. The last thing she wanted was for them to turn on each other. Satisfied, she took them for a test run.
Besides the gym, four rooms had a handful of undead left. She broke the elves up into four teams and stationed them in front of the doors. Using the security link, she opened the four doors. The elves rushed in and attacked the undead.
As one group of elves shredded the dead legionnaires, Sarin's smile reached ear to ear. She wished she could keep them. The fog's effects would only last a few hours. Motioning to the war cats to dispose of the pieces, War marshaled her new troops outside the gym.
Her initial desire to attack changed to curiosity. The octopus leader could provide an interesting chat and the more she learned about these enemies to pass on to Megan the better they could counter them in the future. These things could be devastating if they got into Kita's armies.
Sarin gave her orders to the elves. "Wait along the wall out of sight of the door. When I say powderpuff you will rush in and kill everything but the octopus leader and the human chained to the back wall."
The elves nodded they understood.
She inspected the door to the gym looking for the obstruction. She found a round piece of metal lodged in the track. She chuckled to herself, how stupid it must be to starve to death because of a classic prank. She put the scrap metal in her pocket. How did it get there?
