At dawn, Snowy and Kita returned to the shuttle. Sarin, Anthrax, and Frostbane sat on the ramp basking in the warm morning sun. Sarin and Anthrax stood stiffly. On the outside, they looked fine, but Kita knew they were far from healed. The four exchange hugs.
"I'm glad to see you both awake," said Zidin coming around the shuttle.
"Did we miss something?" said Kita.
"Of course not. This is your show. Plus after last night's debacle no one would fault you for being late. It would give everyone time to get over the embarrassment."
"What embarrassment?" said Snowy.
Zidin chuckled. "Each clan has at least one elder. So each clan feels responsible. The Black Watch also shares in the embarrassment."
"Why? We're the ones who walked away from everyone," said Kita. "It's not like Snowy and I are two helpless princesses. Our biggest problem last night wasn't defending ourselves; it was trying not to kill them."
"We know. Still, it's our duty to fight for you and protect you. Everyone's embarrassed, nothing like this has happened since the clans unified."
"We're fine, that's all that matters. I s everyone waiting on us to start the day?"
"Yes, to officially start the games," said Zidin.
Kita took Snowy's and Sarin's hands. Sarin took Anthrax's, and the four led the others to the bowl.

"Who would you like to compete in which events?" Zidin said after Kita opened the games.
"What are the events?"
"There's the duel, which you're doing. The caber toss, think of it as throwing a tree trunk end over end. The sheaf toss, it's a contest of seeing who can toss a bail of wool the highest with a pitchfork. The stone throw, the hammer throw, the weight toss, and the tug of war."
"We don't have enough for everything, plus I don't want to win everything. The chicks are still too injured to compete. You have to judge the duel. So, that leaves Frostbane, Snowy, and Vanouse. Snowy can compete in the sheaf toss, she has built in pitch forks." Snowy stuck her tongue out at Kita. "Vanouse can toss the caber and put Frostbane on the tug of war. We at least want to make good showing." Kita chuckled.
The group split up to go to their various events. Anthrax and Sarin stayed with Kita. As the three made their way to the dueling ring, Sarin and Anthrax turned heads. Their natural beauty combined with the amount of skin showing caused more than a few upset jabs by anger wives and girlfriends.
Before her death, Kita would have worn as little or even less depending on her mood. She admitted her vanity and she thought it fun to turn heads and make men blush. It was even more fun to do it to Snowy.
Since returning, she covered everything. From the undersides of her breasts to her mid thighs thousands of scars covered her skin. Her once smooth skin had become rough and ugly to look at. She knew it would heal in time, but it would be a long time.
Kita had become so self-conscious; she hadn't slept with Snowy yet. She hadn't even shown her. The one time they had fooled around, she'd politely kept Snowy from going any lower than her breasts. Kita dreaded tonight and Snowy's reaction, and kicked herself for not telling her sooner.
A large crowd had gathered for the duels. Everyone was waiting for Kita to arrive and the pairs to be drawn.
The dueling ring had been hastily set up. The ring measured fifteen yards in diameter, small by Kita's standards. Normally twenty yards would be the minimum size for tournament in Yorq and Champaigne. The ring had large stones set together to mark the boundary. Could a possible strategy be to drive your opponent out of the ring? You'd know if you reached the edge.
