After she asks for his help, Michael helps her to get better. She has some withdrawals from the sudden stop of the drugs in her system, and from quitting smoking cold turkey. He's there for her through it all and even offers to quit smoking with her. Rae wants to get her shit together before they start anything relationship-wise and Michael accepts that. So that she's not too overwhelmed she starts to see her friends one-by-one but Ashton never comes around to visit.
