Chapter 12

Home economics, I’m definitely sleeping during this class. Ms. Jen is barely twenty-two years old. She’s really friendly and she loves me. So I can sleep during class and she won’t stop me. I walked to class calmly, not caring if I was late. When I got there, everyone was still talking and laughing and Ms. Jen wasn’t there yet.

Where is she? I wondered for a second before someone answered my silent question.

“She has a meeting so she’s gonna be late,” a deep voice which I quickly recognized as Jackson’s said.

“Oh,” I answered “That’s good. I guess.”

“Yep,” he said popping the ‘p’.

“I can sleep,” I stretched and yawned lazily.

He chuckled, “You’re always sleeping!”

I shrugged.

“Don’t you sleep at night?” he asked.

“I do!” I answered a bit too quickly which made him look at me questioningly so I quickly added, “But it seems like it’s never enough.”

“I know what you mean,” he groaned “No matter how early I sleep, I’ll be tired the next morning.”

“That’s true,” I agreed as I sat on a chair next to his.

I placed my hands on the desk and rested my head on them.

“Are you really that tired?” Jackson asked.

“Mhm,” I answered, my eyes started drooping.

He looked thoughtful for a moment.

“Come on I have a better idea,” he stood up from his seat and tugged on my sleeve. I noticed that there were only a few nerds in class. Most of the others decided to go outside since Ms. Jen wasn’t coming any time soon.

“I’m tired!” I whined “I don’t want to do anything.”

“No no we’re not doing anything, trust me.” he said.

I sighed as I lazily stood up, almost falling. I was forcing my eyes to stay open.

He held my arm as he pulled me to the back of the class. He sat with his back resting on the wall and then he pushed me down beside him. In one swift movement, my head was on his lap.

“There,” he smiled “Isn’t that better?”

I blinked a few times still baffled. It was really comfortable and I felt myself falling asleep. I mumbled an agreement and the last thing I heard before blacking out was the sound of his soft chuckle.

I felt someone shaking my shoulders lightly. I hugged Teddy tighter and frowned slightly with my eyes still closed when I felt that Teddy was different.

“Ade wake up,” I heard a tender voice which was definitely not Brian’s. I’m so sure that it was Jackson’s. I quickly snapped my eyes open to find myself on Jackson’s lap, hugging his torso. So that’s why Teddy felt different. My eyes widened and I quickly jumped to my feet making my head spin because of the quick movement. I stumbled a bit and instantly Jackson was right next to me,

“Whoa slowly,” he said gripping my shoulders.

“I’m sorry I didn’t… I-I… Uh you… I,” I stuttered feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment.
