Chapter 27
I called Ashley and told her to come over for a ‘girls’ night in and sleepover’. Ashley has been my best friend for more than seven years. She knows absolutely everything about me. She is the person I can tell anything. And tonight, I’m going to need her advice about what to do with Lucas.
Any other person would’ve been mad at Lucas and would’ve started hating him. But I, even though I’ve barely known him for a couple of months, can’t think about not being his friend anymore. I didn’t know you could get attached to someone in such a short period of time.
He just walked into my life two months ago and now I never want him to leave. The worst part is that he didn’t even give me a reason for his actions. He just blew up. I’m pretty sure I didn’t do anything wrong.
Everytime I think about the things he said to me in the past couple of days. And the way his eyes turn cold and hard every time he glances at me make my heart break.
Could he really hate me?
That thought made my stomach clench uncomfortably.
I sighed. Stop thinking about him, I scolded myself.
The front door opened and closed making me snap out of my thoughts. Brian came in and smiled at me,
“Hey sis,” he greeted me “Whatcha doing?”
I shrugged, “I’m waiting for Ash to come.”
“Shel- I mean Ashley’s coming?” he asked, slightly nervous.
Why was he nervous?
I narrowed my eyes at him and he gave me a nervous chuckle.
“Yes,” I answered skeptically.
“Oh. That’s great,” he said as he ran up to his room.
Weird, I thought.
There’s definitely something going on and I am going to figure it out soon.
Before I could start planning, the doorbell rang. I opened the door, knowing that it was Ashley.
“Hey Ash,” I smiled slightly as she walked in.
We sat on the couch in the cozy living room.
“Can we watch Tangled?” I asked Ashley to see if she was okay with it.
Her eyes widened, a reaction I was expecting, “What happened?” she asked.
I shrugged, “I’ll tell you after the movie.”
“Okay,” she said reluctantly nodding, still trying to discover what was wrong.
Everytime I’m sad, I watch the movie Tangled. Don’t ask why, it’s just a habit of mine. And Ash immediately knows that something’s up when I ask to watch this movie.
I brought a bowl of popcorn, a huge bag of gummy bears, lollipops, and sodas for us to eat while watching.
Ash’s jaw fell slightly at the amount of food I bought. And I knew that she was thinking that something was terribly wrong. And she’s absolutely right. But she didn’t say anything; she just ate with me and watched the movie.
Once we reached almost the end of the movie, where Rapunzal was crying over Flynn and he lives again, Brian came down the stairs.
I barely acknowledged him since this was my favorite part of the movie. I heard him saw ‘Whoa’ and I guess it was due to the amount of empty bowls and bags on the table.
