Chapter 26
“You look beautiful,” Jackson smiled and kissed me softly.
I frowned when I saw his car parked in front of my house. We usually walk to the places we want to go to but I guess we’re not going neither to McDonalds nor the nearby park…
“Where are we going?” I asked as we put our seatbelts.
Safety first, I thought.
“I’m not telling you,” he said, smiling mischievously.
“You know I’m not good when it comes to surprises,” I pouted.
“Yep, that’s why we’re driving there. It’ll take less time so you won’t give me a headache with all your nagging.”
“Hey!” I slapped his arm “I am not that annoying.”
He looked at me incredulously, “Have you ever heard yourself? You’re so impatient!”
I grumbled under my breath and crossed my arms over my chest.
Jackson chuckled and he started driving.
The road was vaguely familiar but I couldn’t remember where it leads to.
I bit my tongue to stop myself from asking and nagging. I’ll show him that I can be patient. It seemed like hours passed and I finally snapped.
“Are we there yet?” I asked.
“Ade it’s been three minutes,” Jackson smirked.
“Really?!” I asked bewildered.
He glanced at me before looking back at the road, “Yep.”
“Stop smiling!” I slapped him.
“Do not hit the driver, Ade,” he tsked.
“Whatever,” I huffed and that’s when I noticed Jackson slowing down.
I looked at the place in front of where he parked and I saw the familiar blue sign.
“Henry’s,” I stated, memories of the past flooding my brain.
Our parents used to bring us here at least once a week. I haven’t been here in years! We used to love eating here and playing on the swings outside.
“I know you’re not a fan of fancy places so I thought I’d bring you here…” he trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck.
“You remembered,” I said, taking my eyes of the glowing blue sign to look into his blue eyes.
“Of course I did,” he whispered before taking my face into his big hands and kissing me.
I grinned at him and jumped out of the car, feeling excited.
He laughed at me and wrapped an arm around my waist as we went inside the little restaurant.
A familiar blond waitress greeted us as we went in. Her hair was cut shorter but the warm smile on her face was still there. I also noticed a ring on her finger indicating that she’s now married. She’s around twenty-eight years old now.
“Welcome to Henry’s,” she said with the cheery voice I can never forget.
“Stacey!” Jackson and I said simultaneously surprising her.
I guess he remembers her as well.
Her blue eyes filled with confusion and uncertainty as she looked at us, “Um…”
