I woke up to shouting, more specifically Nichole shouting. I checked the time on my alarm clock, and saw that it was only ten in the morning. I groaned, forcing myself to sit up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes.
I grabbed my cell phone to see if I had any texts from Fran. To my surprise, I actually had a few from Fran and one from Eli. As corny as it sounded I smiled and opened his first.
-Morning, beautiful-
I rolled my eyes but the text did make me giggle. I sent him my own morning greeting and then checked my texts from Francesca. She had a string of suggestion on places I could go with my fathe today. I suddenly remembered that today was the weekend I'd get to spend with Criag. I grimaced at the memory of making that promise.
Looking at the time again, I sighed and got up to get ready. Criag had said he would pick me up around noon, so it gave me time to find something to wear and talk myself out of ditching him.
After I showered and got dressed, I made my way down to the kitchen. Uncle Ben was sitting at the counter drinking a cup of coffee, a plate of eggs sitting in front of him. The sight confused me for a second, he was usually at work at this time.
"Morning, Raven." He greeted looking up from his laptop.
"Morning." I reply and look around the kitchen. "Is it just you?" I asked.
"Nichole just left with some of her friends, and Clare should be upstairs in the shower." He informed me. I nodded and took a seat next to him at the counter pouring myself a cup of coffee.
"Are you ready for your day out with your dad?" Uncle Ben then asked. I looked at him and shrugged.
"I guess." I answer and look around the counter. He then passes the sugar that was sitting next to him. "Creamer is in the fridge, dear."
I smiled and slid the sugar closer to me and putting in two spoonfuls before getting up to grab the creamer.
"I thought you would be at work." I said as I make my way back."I was, but" he cleared his throat. "I wanted to help pack." He smiled at me before returning his eyes to the laptop.
I nodded, realizing how close the move was actually coming. It was literally in four weeks, right after Nichole graduated. I wasn't sure if Nichole was staying here or following her parents out to Texas. Aunt Clare had told her that if she decided to stay, they would hold her up in her own apartment, but that they wouldn't help her with anything else. She would have to get a job and live for herself. Nichole didn't like that very much, and that's what all the fighting around here was about.
"Have you decided yet?" Uncle Ben then asked. I smile and put the cream away.
"I'm not ready to leave this place just yet." I say and stir my coffee. "It will be weird to live under Criag, but until mom gets better, I don't plan on leaving anytime soon."
I take a sip of my coffee when I hear Uncle Ben chuckle. I look at him curiously, and find him smiling at me. I didn't get what was so amusing.
"You're a strong young woman, I'm sure you'll survive without us." He stated. I smiled in return.
A few minutes later, Craig arrived and I was off with my day out with him. He drove a nice looking car, an Audi 3, although I was half expecting a lambo. He had his music playing, and I swear it sounded like the Harry Potter soundtrack. I was focused so much on the total difference of what I was expecting that I hadn't realized that Craig was talking to me.
"Sorry, what?" I asked looking over at him.
"I asked if you were hungry." He chuckled and did a double take. "What's with that look?"
