I coudln't sleep at all that night. After that kiss my lips kept tingling and my heart still sped up each time I thought about it. Does Eli really like me or was that kiss just out of pitty? How am I supposed to face him again? What do I even say?

The school bell brings me out of my trail of thought and I see all of the kids slowly making thier way to class. Grabbing my bag I walk to my final class of the day, trying to put all thoughts of Eli aside and focus in school. I had grabbed all my missed assignments from the teachers, them knowing that I would want them.

I walked up into Mrs. Flannagan's classroom and noticed her gaze following me as I made it to my seat in the back. When I looked at her she smiled a bit at me, and shut her door to get class started. I expected her to give us a lecture on Prohibition or Title IX or something, but instead she pulled down the screen and put on a movie. Immediately the kids around me started talking, and Mrs. Flannagan handed out a worksheet going along with the movie.

"This will count as Extra Credit. Most of you need it, so I suggest you pay attention." she said, pulling some guy's hat off his head and placing it on his desk. Of course he put it back on as soon as she was out of reach.

When she reached my desk, she placed her hand on my shoulder and whispered low in my ear. "Will you see me after class?" she asked. I nodded, and she continued handing out the papers.

I didn't pay attention to the movie. I already had an A in this class and didn't need the extra credit. Instead I put my head down and took a nap.

What felt like two hours later, which probably was only just 30 minutes, I felt a gentle shake of my shoulder. It brought me out of my dreamless nap and I took in a deep breath while rubbing my eyes. I blink my eyes open to realize that no one was in the class room except for Mrs. Flanagan.

"Have a nice nap, Raven?" she whispered and I sat up straighter finally realizing that school was out. "You seem very exhausted." she added and I put a fake smile on my lips.

"I'm okay, no worries." I tell her, but she looks at me with a sympathetic expression.

"I heard about your mother, and my heart goes out to you both." Mrs. Flanagan said. Mentioning my mother brought tears to my eyes.

"How did you find out?"

"My brother told me, he had gotten word from Elijah when the incident happened." she said. I sighed and looked down at my desk. "Raven, if you need anything, just know that Betty and I are here for you." Mrs. Flanagan said.

"Betty?" I asked looking up at her. Mrs. Flangan smiled embarrassingly.

"Sorry, I assumed that you knew our librarian, Ms. Norman by first name." she replied. I then remembered that librarian had introduced herself to me, and that she had said that she was a close friend of my mom's.

"Oh, yeah. Right, yeah I met her before." I say, and she smiles at me.

"I just want you to know that there are people here who care and look out for you, okay?" she says and I nod. "Alright, get some rest. You look like a zombie." she teased and I grinned a bit. She went back to her desk while I grabbed my things and took off.

I switched out my books in my locker and headed outside to go catch the bus. I had to go into work today and explain myself, even though I'm pretty sure Francesca had already done that for me. I had a feeling that I was at a risk at getting fired because I hadn't thought of work when everything happened. I kind of disappeared on them, but hopefully Francesca put in a word to her father for me. I'm going to have to pay her back for this one.

As I made my way outside I heard shouting and demonic laughter. I thought it was just another school fight until I heard a very distinct and familiar accent.
