Savannah's POV
Hunter gave me a warm smile, one that held loyalty. It was genuine, a smile no one but my parents have gave me before. He squeezed my hand. I felt a blush creep to my cheeks, causing Hunter to chuckle.
"Savannah, you'll love it don't worry." Hunter said in a soothing voice, one I never thought could come out of his mouth.
I didn't answer him, scared I would stutter. Instead, I rested my head on the door and watched the trees pass by in a blur. My eyes fluttered closed and I drifted into a dreadful sleep...
"Mama! Papa!" I squealed and opened my eyes. "Come out. Come out where ever you are!"
I heard a distant giggle and I smiled to myself. "I hear you Summer!" I yelled and I heard her giggle again.
Following the sound of my sisters laugh, I stood in front of a giant tree. I smiled and jumped behind it. "BOO!" I shouted but instantly frowned when no one was there.
Then, an ear-piercing scream attacked my ear drums and I covered my ears. "Mama!" I yelled and ran around anxiously. "Papa?!" I yelled, louder. Another scream pierced the air and my heart dropped. "Summer?! Mama?!" I cried and was scooped up from behind. "Shh, it's okay." My dads voice whispered into my ear as we were running out of the large park.
"Papa! Where's mama?" I asked, choking on my own words.
"Vanessa!" My dad shouted as we sprinted through the trees. I looked over my dads shoulder, just as he stumbled over a root, causing me to go flying forwards. I screeched in pain as my back slammed against a tree.
"REECE?! MAMA?! SUMMER?!?" I screamed helplessly, still not understanding what was going on.
"Savannah!" My mom's voice yelled and I looked up weakly, seeing my dad running after a blur and my mom sprinting towards me, tears streaming down her face. Reece was running next to her, cheeks wet and eyes puffy. He tackled me into a hug and my mom spread her arms around the both of us.
"Where's Summer?" I cried, gripping tightly on to my mom's collar.
"Shh, baby girl. Don't speak." My mom's voice cracked at the end and she tightened her arms around my brother and I.
"Vanessa?" A weak voice called and we all looked up to see my papa with tears streaming down his cheeks and my mom seemed to cry harder. Reece grabbed my hand and squeezed it, letting more tears fall down his own face.
"Summer?" I called helplessly, completely oblivious to the situation. I felt a warm hand on my shoulder and looked up at my dad. "Sweetheart. Summer's gone."
Launching forwards, I jerked my head to the left, seeing Hunter casually driving. "Have a nice nap?" He teased and I swallowed a lump in my throat. Sweat was pouring down my neck and forehead and my heart beat was accelerating.
"Yah." I croaked, feeling my eyes start to sting. I instantly turns my head to the window and the image of Reece's tear-stained face flashed across my mind. He's never been the same older brother since that day.
Suddenly, I felt the car jolt to a stop. I looked up and saw we were in a large gravel parking lot. A few cars were scattered around but it looked almost empty. The parking lot came off of a discrete road that was surrounded by trees. I looked around and my eyes landed on Hunter, who was looking at me with a goofy grin.
"Ready?" He asked, excitement laced in his voice.
"I guess." I replied and we both got out of the car. Hunter grabbed my hand before I could resist and gave me a side glance. "Kitten?" He questioned and I looked over shyly, feeling a blush start to come. "You'll love it." He finished and gave me a genuine smile. His smile made me melt and I immediately looked away.
I looked up to see a path leading into the vast woods. Fear settled in the out of my stomach and I stared into the deep array of trees.
"Cmon." Hunter prompted and pulled my hand forwards, causing me to stumble and grab onto his arm for stability. Hunter put his hand over my hand before smiling warmly at me. "Relax." He chuckled and slung his arm over my shoulder.
We continued to walk in silence before we took a turn around a large rock. My breath hitches in my throat as I stared at the majestic waterfall. My hand flew to my mouth as I gasped and I took a wobbly step back, colliding with hunter's chest. "Like it?" Hunter asked and I couldn't find the words to respond, so I just nodded. He chuckled and started to lead me forwards.
We began stepping up rocks and I almost fell a few times but I'm not exactly the most athletic person. Hunter reached the top of the large Boulder am reached his hand down for my hand. "The view." I gasped as I tightened my hand around hunters and he hauled me up, immediately tightening his arm around my waist like I was gonna fall.
I stared off of the cliff at the arrange of luscious green trees and a gorgeous scene of the sun becoming orange, preparing for sun set. "Hunter-" my words got caught in my throat and I was caught of guard when I felt a pair of lips around my own.
I widened my eyes but didn't move. It felt good, warm but I've never been kissed by a boy before and I didn't know how to react. Hunter's eyes fluttered open to see my wide ones.
"Sh*t!" Hunter grumbled and yanked away. He looked regretful and his eyes traveled up to mine. "I'm sorry Kitten. I didn't mean to."
My cheeks blew up in heat and I used my hands to cover them, trying to comprehend what just happened. I stumbled backwards and I felt off balance. Hunter dashed behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Be careful." He whispered into my ear and I looked at how close we were to the edge.
"Please be careful."
