Hunted

Chapter 4

"If this is what we're going to be doing for the rest of our lives, I'd rather be a lawyer or something" 

"You think I could be a lawyer?" He asks. And yet again, I ignore him. 

"Maybe a family lawyer, no, no. I'd definitely be a criminal lawyer" 

"Do you ever shut up?" I snap. Joseph gives me a look and I scowl. We'd been in this positions for hours, studying the pack. I'd seen Faye a couple of times. She was pregnant. Her mate, someone I heard called Leo, was acting very possessive. He was an Alpha to top it all off. It's going to be hard to separate them. Seriously, couldn't they of given us an easy first task. The beta was someone called Andy, and from what I've gathered, he's mate less. Just makes it harder for us, there's nothing to distract him. 

"We've been sitting like this for hours! We know where she is, can't we just go grab her or something?" Josephs whines. 

"Okay" I shrug my shoulders and get up from my position. Joseph frowns at my sudden change of mood. He gets up and starts walking towards the pack. 

"Though, what do you think will kill you first? The fact you're only weapon is a gun with 12 bullets. Or maybe that they're are at least fifty members there, 12 of them being pack warriors. Or maybe the fact that you're trying to take a pregnant wolf away from her alpha mate?" I say sarcastically. 

"Okay Okay! Stupid idea" He groans and sits back down. 

"Not stupid. Dangerous. If you ever say something as foolish as that, I'll kill you myself"  

"Noted" He rolls his eyes and we sit back in our position. 

"Tomorrow" I say after a few minutes. 

"What?" 

"Tomorrow, 11 o'clock. The wolves take patrols and the others train. That's when the pack house is least defended. But each 20 minutes, the patrols come back and check the house. And at 12, training's ended and they start to prepare lunch. We have an hour max but it'd be better to do it in the first twenty minutes so we don't meet any patrols" I tell him. He nods back. 

"We can leave now" I stand up, Joseph sighs in happiness. 

"Finally, we should get pizza on the way back. You know? To calm the nerves" I block him out and give Faye one last glance. She had Leo's head on her lap and shes playing with his hair. They're sitting under the shade of a huge tree. Laughing at something. They look so, so normal. I wonder, has she actually ever killed somone? She didn't look the type. She looked like she'd rather slit her own throat before hurting a bunny. 

"Okay, we'll get pizza" I turn the opposite way and we begin to drive away from the married couple.

My stomach felt bad, my heart felt worse and I nearly crushed myself under the weight of my conscious.

She's pregnant. She's going to have a child. A baby. An innocent baby. Maybe it'll kill humans when it grows but right now, it's innocent.

I wanted to cry. I was a killer, sure. The tattoos on my back proved it. But all of them had proved a threat or had actually killed. But a child, an unborn baby?

I'm going to kill a baby.

I'm about to kill an innocent baby.

She looked so kind. There had been no murders in this packs area. As far as I'm concerned. They haven't hurt anyone. The Alpha Leo had even saved a small human toddler a few hours ago. The car was about to hit it when the Alpha had shifted and took the child away from the car.

He saved a child and I'm about to kill his.

"Do you ever think we're monsters?" Joseph asked me quietly.

"No" I say back. Not true, not true at all. Right now, I felt more monster like than the wolves.

"I don't want to take her. She's having a baby" He tells me.

"We don't have a choice" I say.

"They'll kill the baby you know?" He tells me.

"Don't you think I know that?" I snap. He silences. The van stops, we're hidden behind many trees. The back of the car is lined with silver and wolfs bane. Plan in a nutshell.

Get in the house.

Locate the Luna.

Inject her with wolfs bane.

Carry her body to the van and drive away.

Hopefully, all will go according to the plan. The Luna cannot see us or smell us, otherwise she'll mind link the alpha and we're as good as dead.

We'd asked for backup but Miss said no. We we're on this all by our own. 

I'm so sorry Luna.
