THE 'WOLF'S' POV
"What the hell is wrong with you!" Leo growled at me. Andy, my older brother and beta, was looking at me strangely. We were in Leo's office. He had been stressing for the past week. Faye was missing. We all missed her.
"She took your Luna!" Andy reminded me. I hadn't told them about her yet. Her with her long dirty blonde hair. Her with her big brown eyes. Her, my mate. Her, the hunter.
"I'm sorry" I say.
"What happened there?" Leo shouts at me. I slowly raise my eyes from the ground and look into his silver eyes.
"She's my mate"
Three words.
Four things happened when I said them.
First, Leo punched me, causing my chair to topple to the ground.
Second, Andy begins running his fingers through his hair. Mumbling something about how it was impossible.
Third, something changed in Leo's eyes. As if he could use this to his advantage. Which he would.
And forth, she flew back into my mind. The memory of having her in my arms, her arms unsure whether or not to hug me back. Her mind not into the embrace. But her body was all for it. I felt her reaction. My wolf loved it. My nose buried in her soft hair. Her scent of strawberries, not totally disguised by the smell she had gained from being in the cell.
"Are you sure?" Andy sits beside me.
"Yes, I'm sure. I've been sure for a week now. I didn't believe it at first either" I say.
"There has been cases of human mates but to have a hunter? That's unheard of"
"Hunters are humans too. Just a monstrous type" Leo says softly. He looks at me, slightly guilty.
"I can get her to tell me everything she knows. But I need to get her into better living quarters" I say.
"No, she stays there. But I'll add a comfier bed, warmer clothes, more food, and showering rights" I sigh gratefully. I try and leave, my wolf restless to touch her again. Leo grabs my arm.
"You have one month"

Her brown eyes follow my figure as I pace up and down the outside of the cell. Her eyes then fall to the plate of food, the blanket and pillow and the clothes. They'd let her have a shower. While she was gone, I had placed a carpet on the cold ground. They'd moved the mattress from my room and placed it in their, I had insisted. They wouldn't put a bed in there, in case she had used it as a weapon.
"You did this for me?" She says. I kneel beside her wishing that there wasn't bars separating us.
"Of course" I tell her. My fingers reach for her but she moves back.
"What's your name?" I ask gently.
"You first" I smile.
"Chase" She laughs lightly. It was hard not falling in love with her laugh.
"You look like a Chase" She comments.
"I believe we had a deal"
"I don't remember anything about a deal" She pokes her chicken with the fork.
"It's not poisoned. I swear. You can trust me" I say. But I doubt she would.
"I don't trust wolves" She replies coldly but eats the meat anyway.
"I saved your life" I point out. Trying to prove that she could trust me.
"I never asked you too"
"But I did anyway"
"If you're expecting a medal or maybe a 'thank you', I can assure you. You're not going to get one" Was she always like this?
"I'm not expecting anything. I just want to get to know my mat-"
"Don't say it!" She interrupts. My wolf whimpers at the thought that she doesn't want to acknowledge us as her mate.
"But you are"
"It's impossible"
"Is that why you move like that when I come near you? Why you flinch? Or maybe why your body is practically begging me to be with you?" I say as I place my hand on her cheek. She closes her eyes and leans into my hand. I smirk.
"So? What is your name?" I ask in a low tone. I move close to the bars. Her shoulders slump and her eyes get a sort of glazed look. I have her in the palm of my hands.
"It's Elliana" She says softly. "Elliana Matthias"
