The local roller skating rink was fairly empty. This was rather unusual since it was always packed.

Cameron buys you both skates and you walk over to put them on. With ease, he stands up and starts skating around. When he turns back, he sees you still sitting on the bench.

"(y/n), what's wrong? Are you okay?" He asks nervously.

"I'm fine. I'm just scared." Your cheeks turn rosy. He smiles and puts out his hand for you. You gladly take it and he pulls you to your feet. Instantly you lose your balance and nearly fall to the ground, but Cameron catches you just on time.

"Wow there. This isn't even ice skating." He teases. You slap his arm but quickly grab back on as again, your feet start sliding. He giggles and you glare at him.

"How about I watch you skate instead." You imply.

"No no no," he tells you reassuringly. "I'm going to teach you how to roller skate!"

"Better teach me how to fill out medical papers too because I'm going to end up in the ER tonight with a broken tailbone at least." He takes a step forward just as you finish, bringing you rolling next to him.

Cameron then decides to start actually skating. At first, you have it, but then you reach a bend and Cameron has to pull you instead because you can't seem to turn.

"Just lightly move your feet to the side you want to go like this!" He lets go of your hand for a second and does a 360-degree turn.

"Stop showing off." You roll your eyes.

"Ok. Are you ready to try it?"

"No." You reply flatly.

"I got you, it's ok. Just turn. Alright, ready?" You do as Cameron told you and slowly, but efficiently, your body changes directions. A smile plasters onto your face, and you let out a joyful scream.

"I want to go faster!" You exclaim suddenly, adrenaline pumping through your veins at a million miles a minute.

"Are you sure you're ready?" Cameron voices his concern but you only nod, ready to feel the wind in your face. He picks up the speed and you both roll around the huge outdoor circle. The thrilling rush inside you makes you feel alive more than you ever have. You let go of Cameron's arm and grab his hand.

"This isn't your first time roller skating is it." Cameron looks at you with a smile and you glance over at him.

"I just wanted to see how good you were." You tell him. He picks up his pace and you follow. Everything is passing by you fast, creating a blur of faces and colorful lights. For a second, your whole head spins. The world starts to spin faster than you and Cameron.

"I need to stop!" You urgently yell at him. He looks over at you and his face turns pale.

"Let's go over here." He makes a sudden stop that almost sends you to greet the floor but Cameron pulls you back and you land a little hard on the bench.

You bend over, gasping for air. It felt so alleviating, but terrifying at the same time

"I feel sick that's all. Sorry if I scared you." You look down ashamed.

"Hey, it's ok. It happens." He tells you. He looks down at his phone for the time and nearly falls off the bench.

"We have to go! It's 10:00 and I have to get you home in an hour!"

"Ok let's go." You say mockingly, laughing at his urgency.

He takes off his skates and you do the same. You two run over and hand them back slipping in all directions in your socks. Cameron doesn't even give you time to put on your shoes properly before he yanks you by the hand towards the subway.

The clock turns 10:50 when he pulls into your driveway once more. The lights are on in your living room.

"I had a nice time." You tell him. You yell at yourself silently for being so cliche.

"I did too." He responds. He then exits the car and comes over to open your door. You carefully step out and loop your arm through Cameron's as he takes you up to your doorstep.

The porch light comes on, illuminating his features. Everything is silent except for the chirping of the crickets. He slowly leans in, taking your face in his hands.

For the first time, your lips make contact with someone else's. Joy overcomes you because your first kiss is with the right boy. He pulls away first and stares into your eyes. You wonder what he sees when he smiles.

"Goodnight, beautiful." He tells you with one last small kiss.

"Goodnight."

You walk inside to find a smiling mother, and an overprotective father cleaning his shotgun.

"So how was your night?" Your mother asks you inquisitively.

"It was fine." You say. You sneak into your room. As you stare out the window, you watch Cameron drive off.

You can't wait until your next date with him.
