We froze at what Nadine said.
Then Cole spoke up. "We just dealt with this yesterday. It was just some kid," he told her trying to reassure us and himself. "Besides, the Serpentine don't really exist. It's just some bedtime story to teach little kids not to put their nose where it doesn't belong," Kai said with a chuckle.
"I know what I saw!" Nadine tried to tell us. "Let's go check it out, just to be sure," Molly said with an unsure face as she took her last sip of Sunny D.

The town was quiet when we got there.
"Oh, no! they've killed everyone!" Nadine said in a scared voice as she latched onto Kai. Kai pulled her off of him. "Come on guys, there has to be someone left," I tried to reassure everyone, but I was getting doubts myself. "Hello?" Kalyn called out before Jay shushed her. "We're supposed to be ninjas, aren't we?" Jay asked as I saw something in the shadows move.
I looked harder as I saw a blue glint. I walked over to it and picked it up. "Uh guys, look at this," I said as they'd rushed up to me. "What is it?" Kalyn asked. "Is...is that a scale?" Molly asked as I looked around the open area. My eyes widened as I saw glowing red eyes. They were so pretty. I could just stare at them forever. I heard a whisper that gradually turned into a yell.
"Hannah!" Sam yelled in my face. I blinked a few times. "What? What happened?" I asked confused at her busted face. "That was the Hypnobrai. They got you and you started attacking us," she explained. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Did I hurt anybody?" I asked. "A couple busted lips but nothing too serious," she said. "Oh I feel horrible. I can't believe I wasn't careful!" I told her while holding my head. "All that matters is that you're ok....and that no one died," she added with a smile. "Oh thanks," I said sarcastically, "I feel so much better." She chuckled. "You're welcome," she said with a cheeky smile.
"Anyways, let's just go back to the monastary. The others are already there," she told me as she helped me to my feet.
I couldn't help the feeling of guilt that came over me as we headed to the monastary.
