My head and heart pounded in rhythm as I waited for the phone to ring. The hospital promised they would call as soon as he was feeling better. What if he hadn't made it? What if they were debating on wether to call me or not. The sight of blood oozing out of my only friend's leg made me dizzy and I tried to clear my mind.
There was a sigh in the other room and I could tell it was my mom. I hadn't moved for 3 hours, sitting near the home phone and waiting for the call.
When the shooting was over, both my parents left work to pick me up. Police are still at the school trying to figure out who it was who shot down 20 or so students. I was still in shock from seeing Dan sprawled out on the floor, soaking in his own blood.
I had screamed and rushed over to him. He was still under a desk, his dark brown eyes met mine and he smiled. Of all the times he could have smiled, now wasn't the time. His lips formed a crooked smile but his eyes showed pain beyond belief.
I hugged him and cried until paramedics came and took him away.
I haven't seen him since. My mom comes into the room and tells me I need to get some rest. I'm not hurt. I don't need sleep. I need answers on how Dan is doing.
Finally, I get up and head up the stairs. I make it half way up when the phone rings and i fly back down.
"Hello?" I pant.
"Is this Phil Lester?" Someone's on the other end. I gulp.
"Yes."
"We have news on..." I hear papers ruffle in the background. "Uh...Dan Howell?" It comes out as more of a question then a comment. My heart rate speeds up more then usual. It's always pounding to fast for my own good but this time it's really done it.
"Yeah...is he okay?"
Woo phans back! Hopefully you like this story as much as the first. Uh so updates are gonna be once a day for the most part. This is gonna be the only chapter for today though. For suspense purposes. ;)
