i sat on the uncomfortable hospital bed waiting for the nurse who smelled of overwhelming flowers and some other unidentified smell to come back with the test results, all the annoying hospital sounds and smells were starting to cause me a headache. jacob looked just as nervous as me. pacing back and forth in front of me "jake sit down you look sick" he looked at me his hand shaking slightly "hey you're gonna throw up now sit" he shook his head "nah i'm fine" he said in a low voice "jake it's gonna be okay i promise" or so i hope "but that's the thing bella. if that child isn't okay then guess who's gonna be to blame?" he said while pointing a finger at himself "jake no one will blame you. if there is anything wrong with this child i'll be the one to blame" i tried my best to remain calm even though i was trying to hold back tears and on the inside i was freaking out, panicking would only cause jake to freak out more and that's the last thing i need "you don't need to panic, i'm the one who went to the beach i'm the one who fall off the cliff and i'll be the one to take the blame..if anything embry should thank you, you saved my life jake" he looked at me looking sicker than before, something i had said in the last few sentences had set him off "jake?" he had sweat across his brow "hey jake breath" i darted towards the small bathroom in the corner of the room not bothering to turn the lights on. he tumbled down onto the ground by the toilet, gagging before he even hit the floor. once he was over the toilet he let the mouth full of puke he had been holding out "jake" he looked at me with a worn face..he almost looked pale not that it was very easy for jake to get pale with his skin tone "jake i'm sorry was it something i said?" he groaned "i'm sorry" the nurse came back in holding a clipboard. jake looked up at her with wide and anxious eyes before he quickly stood up and flushed the toilet then speed walking to my side "well it's a little early to tell much but" she paused looking up from the board, making jake just about cry in suspense "he or she is okay" she said with her cheesy white smile, i let out a breath that i wasn't aware i was holdin, jake did the same "would you mind walking me through what happened again?" i looked at jake who was already looking at me "um well. bella being the clumsy person that she is went out to deep in the water and slipped under and couldn't swim back up" she raised her eyebrows at me and jake "you were swimming in weather like this?" i looked at jake who had his mouth open slightly searching his brain for words "uh-well she's..sorta crazy" she looked at me "well you should avoid cold water like that it's not healthy for you or the baby and your body going into shock like that definitely isn't good for him or her" i nodded "yeah i-i don't know what i was thinking" i said with a fake smile "is this your guys first?" jake looked at me, his face turning a slight rose pink "umm i'm not the father" she raised her eyebrows "o-oh where is the father? if i may ask" i nodded "he's on business" she looked as if she was trying to stop the smile playing at the edges of her mouth as she looked back and forth between us, she hugged the clipboard to her chest before nodding "well you just have to sigh a few papers at the desk and you'll be free to go" she smiled before exiting the room. i looked at jake "well let's get out of here" jake said while grabbing his jacket off the bed beside me and holding his hand out towards me. i reached out and took his hand and slid off the edge of the bed "ready?" i nodded and he began walking towards the door holding my hand until we reached it and then he let go the cold shocked me for a minute when his warm hands left mine, after signing the papers at the desk and being stared at by the blond nurse and a few others that were obviously whispering about us, we left. the ride home was quiet at first awkwardly quiet until jake finally broke the silence "you know that nurse totally thought i was banging you while your husband is away on 'business" i laughed causing jake to chuckle "yeah she was talking about us while we were signing all that stuff" he laughed "yeah you couldn't have made it anymore obvious, who the fuck stares someone in the eye while talking about them?" i laughed "like how dumb do you have to be?" he said while giggling. we laughed for a minute before he sighed and it went back to the awkward silence "are you gonna tell embry?" i looked away from the dark window, i didn't know what to say i was lost for words jake looked at me "bella you have to tell him" i sighed "jake it's not that simple i can't just tell embry that i almost drown when i fell off a cliff because i was looking for my ex vampire boyfriend and almost killed our unborn secret child, yeah that doesn't sound like a good idea" he looked at me "you're right but it's either tell him now or explain why you have a melon shaped stomach in a few months and that doesn't sound very fun either" i looked at him for a minute "how far along are you bella?" he said without looking away from the road "maybe around a month in a half possibly two i haven't been keeping track really" he looked at my stomach for a split second "how long have you known?" i thought about it for a minute "maybe a month and a half possibly two" he looked at me "it's growing fast bella" i looked away wanting to ignore the words coming from jake's mouth, but he was right
