Chapter 21

|Ella's POV

I ran across the street and knocked on the door. I was then met by Tyler, Hunter's older brother who I had only met twice before.

"Hey, Ella, right?" He asked and stepped aside.

"Yup, that's me." I faked smiled and laughed weakly. "Is Hunter home?"

"Upstairs, as usual." He laughed and pointed to his room. I thanked him before walking upstairs. A wave of sadness hit me as I reached his door. I heard the familiar laughter from on the other side of the door. I knocked on his door and heard him scream.

"Oh my god, Tyler! What do you wa-" He opened the door once he saw me. His face dropped. "Ell, are you okay?"

"I-i-i..." I stuttered. I couldn't help myself anymore. I hugged him tightly and cried into his chest. His strong arms were wrapped around me and he rubbed my back, trying to calm down. "I broke my promise."

He pulled away quickly, running over to his phone that was propped up against his desk.

"Hey, guys. I have to go for right now. She really needs me right now," he turned to me and gave me a reassuring smile. "Ill talk to you guys tomorrow. Love you!" He then ended the broadcast and came back to me.

Hunter's hands cupped my face and he whipped the tears away with his thumbs. His watery eyes grew sad as he looked down at me.

"Why didn't you keep your promise?" His weakened voice whispered.

"I felt like I was losing the only person who cared." I sighed and looked down. Hunter gently grabbed my wrist and rubbed his thumb against the new cuts lightly. "I felt like I was losing you."

"You will never lose me, Ell." He dropped my arm and wrapped his arms around me once again, putting his head in the crook of my neck. "I love you."

He loved me. Did he even mean it? I closed my eyes as I teared up for the 500th time today. Did I love him? I thought about it, and after what seemed like forever, I made my mind up.

"I love you too."
