|Ella's POV

After leaving the Rowlands' house, we a walked over to our house. Collin and my mother were talking about his scholarship, again. It was all they talked about; and to be honest, it got annoying.

"Ella, have you decided whether to do online or public?" My mom asked me. She's been on my case about this ever since she made the decision to move to Phoenix.

"I think I'm going to do online again." I sighed as she handed me a box that had my name written on it. I personally preferred online rather than public school, it gave me less things to worry about.

"Ella, you aren't going to make any friends if you do online again." My cocky step dad jumped in. My brother laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world. Kiss up, I thought to myself.

"Jason, if she wants to do online, then we'll let her do online. There's not a big problem with it," my mother stuck up for me. That's a first. She's always sticking up for Jason and Collin and not me.

Jason gave me a stern look before going back to unpacking the truck.

---

I was currently sitting in my room. I was almost done unpacking everything, the only thing left to do was my posters, pictures, and more random things. It was 9 right now. He should be calling soon.

I looked out my window and over at the house across the street. Hunter, the older son, was extremely cute and kind. He seemed really familiar, but I couldn't tell where I could've seen him before.

My thoughts were interrupted when my computer started beeping. Skype was on the screen and the familiar profile picture showed up. I accepted the call and sat down as his face appeared.

"SmellaElla!" He said, causing me to smile widely. His familiar green camo uniform was showing confidently. I noticed he had cut his hair, which wasn't even that much. I could hear the voices of his fellow soldiers around him as he spoke.

"Hey, Dad." I grinned and spoke quietly.

---

So, if you couldn't tell, her dad is a soldier. Right now, it's a minor detail. But as the story goes on, this will play a big part in it.
