I open my eyes to the brightness of the barn .' That sleep...wasnt actually that bad.' I stretch my arms but I had this werid vision...I try to recall what it was but nothing comes to my mind . 'All well ' I shrug  , I then realize Steven was missing . ' Where is he ?... He was here when I fell asleep .' I blush and start to remember that I fell asleep on him . ' D-d-did he notice? ' I start to feel embarrased . "Uh S-Steven . " I call out his name loudly ' Maybe he's just downstairs...' I look around and then notice there's something on the T.V . ' What is this?' I pulled it off carelessly and narrow my eyes at it . 'It seems to have a message... from Steven on it...' I start to read it . 

Dear, Peridot 

I hope you had sweet dreams . I had to leave to go on a mission with the gems

I'll be back by noon-ish which wont be for long so you can just hang around

and find something to watch...besides horror movies.. Anyway I'll be back

by then and by the way , you were so adorable when you were sleeping

:) I could of just squeezed you . Anyway see ya soon .

 I blush a little from that last part . ' Oh I forgot he had to go today...' I then let out a sigh .

 ' Great now what am I going to do... at least when Steven was here he kept me busy...' 15 mintues later I decide to put on camp pining hearts out of boredom  . "Previous on camp pining hearts." I mocked the T.V. boredly . ' When will he back...noon?  What the heck is noon supposed to me?!' I groan .' I wish I wasnt so naive to this planet...' I watch as Paulette and Percy talk . ' Ughhhh when will Steven be back...' I whine to myself . I suddenly start to imagine me and Steven reinacting the Paulette and Percy scene and my face immediately reddens and I shut off the T.V.  'Why do I even have these thoughts!'

" Enough of this! " I stand up off the couch .' Why am I even whining about Steven leaving!!! I could be working on the...drill' I slowly come with an idea and as soon as I do Pearl's voice pops up in my mind .'Remeber Peridot dont ever touch the drill without our permission I dont want you-' 'Yeah yeah yeah , I get it Pearl! ' I cut her voice off in my head . Even when she's not here she's still pestering me .'

 But still... I could still impress them by finishing up the drill without them! And then maybe... just maybe they could give me some authority around here and as if Pearl knows my ideas , Im the one with an experience with homeworld technology! I should be the one leading the building of the drill!' I start climbing down the ladder .

 'Besides maybe this is my chance to impress Steven too...SHUT UP ABOUT STEVEN' I slap myself . ' Your out of your mind Peridot! Just focus on building the drill and not on that..boy . Right focus on the drill.' I argue with myself . 

I walk out of the door and into the sun light. 'Nyehehehhe I can just imagine the look on those clods faces when they see I finished the drill . Amethyst will probably be stunned and speech less, Garnet will probably clap and say ' Great job Peridot and Pearl heck Pearl would be so jealous she'll have to take herself out with the garbage and Steven...will be pretty amazed too' My cheeks flush and then I shake it off .

 ' Focus Peridot , focus operation impress Steven... and the gems of course! is underway " I rub my hands together . I grab the tools and parts I need and walk over to the drill. 

I then groan when I realize I'm too short . "Grrrr this wouldnt be a problem if I still had my limb enhancers!!!...you know what Im over that ." I grunt and I suddenly  then get a idea and I scurry into the barn . I grab a chair from inside and pull it over next to the drill . ' Problem solved .' I then stood up on the chair and then I growl realizing it wasnt tall enough . 

Over a series of trips in and out of the barn and stacking books on top eachother I am finally sucessful on getting up to the drill . I whipe sweat off my forehead and let out a sigh. ' Finally....' I then start my work on the drill . ' Ok let's see , I think this is supposed to go here to be exact .' I start adding parts where ever I was certain they could fit .

' Now to get down from here and wait till the gems see this.' I smirked . As Im trying to get down I accidentally slip on a screw driver. "Gah!" I land on top of the control board an accidentally damage . The drill starts to power up and I start to panic . "Uh oh no oh no no no" I start to sweat and panic . 'H-how do I SHUT THIS THING OFF!!!!' I look for an off button but I couldnt find one so I start to press any button that looked like one . "WHY ARENT THESE BUTTTONS WORKING ." I start to pull my hair and suddenly the drill goes out of control .

 "AHHHH! WHY DID I EVEN TRY!" I scream for my life and to make things worst guess what? Oh you'll never guess this one....THE GEMS ARE BACK . "Peridot! I got you some-WHAT THE WHAT?!" I see Steven come up the hill with a plastic bag in his hand . 

"S-STEVEN DO SOMETHING!" I yell as the drill spirals all over the  place. "OK I'LL GO GET THE GEMS , JUST HANG ON ALRIGHT!" He runs back down the hill to go get the gems  and next thing you know 3 angry gems charge up the hill . "PERIDOT! I TOLD YOU TO NEVER TOUCH THE DRILL WITHOUT MY AUTHORITY ." Pearl irrupted ."WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?" Amethyst yells 

"PERIDOT! EXPLAIN THIS IMMEDIATELY" I hear Garnett's angry voice and I gulp with fear . ' Oh no this is a disaster!!! AND THE DRILL IS HEADING STRAIGHT TO THE CLIFF.'  My heart races as I hang on to the drill for my life. " JUMP PERIDOT JUMP OR YOU WONT MAKE IT!" Steven yells . 'Ok, jump just jump off Peridot nothing...scary.' I shiver in fear .

 ' Ok five...four...three...two...ONE!" I let go and jump off of the drill . I land hardly on the ground injuring my back and right my arm. Before the drill falls off the cliff Garrnet stops it . "PERIDOT!!!" Steven runs towards me . "Are you alright?! That was super dangerous" He tries to help me up . "I-Im f-fine..." I spoke weakly . "You dont sound fine... Why were you even-" 

"PERIDOT! YOU ALMOST DESTROYED THE DRILL!!! ALL OF OUR HARD WORK WOULD FELL RIGHT OFF THAT CLIFF IF IT WASNT FOR GARNET . I TOLD YOU TO NEVER USE THE DRILL WHEN IM NOT AROUND , DO YOU EVER LISTEN?!" Pearl snapped . 

"W-WELL I WAS BORED- IT WASNT MY FAULT YOU GUYS LEFT THE DRILL OUT IN THE OPEN!!!" I retourt back and cross my arms .

 "SO WHAT ARE YOU A BABY?! YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THIS!" Pearl yells back . "WHAT IS A BABY?!?! " I howlered at her .

 "GUYS! LET'S JUST ALL CALM DOWN IT WAS A MISTAKE!" Steven speaks up .

Pearl was about to say something back until Garnet put a hand on her shoulder . "Pearl give her a break , mistakes happens . 

"She couldnt have did it on purpose right?" Garnet made eye contact with me and I nod my head slowly . 

"B-But Garnet if WE werent here she would of destroyed everything!! Why did we even leave her alone-" "Pearl let's have a talk." Garnet guides Pearl away leaving me and Steven alone . My arm still throbs with pain and I sigh and sit down in sorrow .

Burry my face into my knees "Why am I such a failure..." I mumbled .
