"Calum stop" Emily whined a little squatting Calum's hand out of the cake mix.

"I'm bored" Calum pouted making Emily roll her eyes at him as she added in the rest of the flour.

"You're the one who wanted to make cakes like the child you are" Emily sighed looking up at him as he looked down at her a smile on his lips. Emily swallowed and looked back down to the mixture in front of her. She still got nervous around him, what was she 16?

"Everyone makes cakes Em" Calum replied before he picked up his phone and checked from any notifications which he didn't.

"Someone clearly isn't as popular as they think" Emily commented as she poured the cake mix into bun cases, which Calum drove a whole ten minuets to buy.

"Who said I thought I was popular?" Calum asked leaning back on the counter. Emily glanced at his biceps as she contracted and pressed her lips together. Calum smirked a little at her as she looked away and back to the cakes on the tray."Has anyone ever told you how bad you are at checking someone out?"

"Who said I was checking you out?" Emily asked as she moved to the oven and placed the cupcakes in. Calum starred at her back as she lift the door close.

"You lost weight" Calum commented making Emily frown a little at him in confusion.

"Yeah a while ago" Emily shrugged as she sat at the table and checked her phone. She replied to a few of Holly's messages before placing her phone face down and looking at Calum.

"What happened today?"  Emily asked curiosity getting the better of her. Calum looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" Calum asked crossing his arms in front of his chest. Emily gave him a 'really' look.

"What happened with Jennifer?" Emily asked making Calum almost cringe at the name.

"She left" Calum shrugged before walking over to the fridge and getting out a beer.

"No shit" Emily stated "Why did she leave?"

"I don't have to talk to you about this" Calum chuckled as he popped the cap off his beer and looking at Emily on the other side of the kitchen.

"No you don't" Emily shrugged "But you should"

"Why should I? I'm not exactly heartbroken" Calum scoffed before sipping on his beer.

"That's exactly why you should talk to me because your girlfriend left and you don't seem to care" Emily sat back in her chair and looked at Calum with one eyebrow raised slightly.

"Why do you care so much?" Calum asked his voice starting to get annoyed because he hated feelings and he hated the way Emily made him feel.

"You used to tell me everything" Emily sighed running her hand through her hair.

"Just because we had a once upon a time doesn't mean we have a be continued" Calum said bluntly making Emily's heart drop.

"Why are you trying so hard to push me away?" Emily asked her voice quiet and soft. Calum felt bad because he couldn't answer.

"I don't let people in anymore. No one can handle me like I handle myself" Calum shrugged makinh Emily narrow her eyes at him.

"Well you aren't handling yourself that well" Emily commented. Calum knew this. Calum knew he needed someone to handle him.

"I'm not the same person you knew" Calum stated "We're basically strangers in love with the past"

"When did this become about me and you?" Emily asked although it hurt her from him to say that. She didn't want to be a stranger. She wanted to know why Calum wasn't happy.
