Finding Roza

Chapter 3- Leaving

*Dimitri's POV*

I sigh as I pack for my new assignment. I have no idea when my team and I will be back but I hope it's soon because I hate being away from Rose for to long. I'm scared she will do something bad causing her and Headmistress Kirova to get in a fight and I'll come back to find out she was sent away from the school.

"Hey you got everything?" Rose asks as I zip up my bag and I nod as I put a silver stake in my hidden pants pocket. I hated saying goodbye to people because I felt that it was a sense that you wouldn't see them again. "Uh...yeah I'm good. Listen Rose if I didn't have to I wouldn't g-"

"Dimitri it's ok I'm not mad...I'll miss you though." She whispers and buries her head in my chest and inhales my scent. "And I'm going to miss you're sweet smell."

I laugh and then lightly push her away and she frowns. "Here." I say and then reach in my bag for one of my shirts. "You can wear this while I'm gone so it'll be like I'm here. Well not physically." She smiles and takes it into her small hands.

"Thank you." I could tell by her face she was holding back tears and I pulled her to me and rubbed her back.

"Your welcome. But I'll be back before you know it ok? I will come back for you." I whisper and look into her beautiful chocolate eyes. "I'll miss you to. And you're wonderful smile." I say and kiss her hard knowing this will be our last one for a little while.

A knock sounds at my door telling me Alberta, the main keeper of the guards, was ready to leave. "I love you so much Roza. I'll see you later stay safe and out of trouble please."

"I will. I promise." She laughs and gives me one last kiss. "I love you to." She whispers and I walk out the door as a single tear slips down her face.

*Rose's POV*

Ok. Ok. I can do this. I can do this. I've been telling myself for the past hour as I pace in front of my door trying to find the courage to open it and go see Lissa. But how could I? I was such a bit-

"No I think I'm the one that was being a bi- well...nasty." Lissa says as she shuts the door behind her. I hadn't even realized she opened it.

"Uh how did you kno-"

"I could feel you through the bond." She interrupts and I form a 'o' with my mouth. "Listen Rose...I'm so very sorry...you were hurting. I had just had a fight with Christian and I was mad. But I still shouldn't have taken my anger out on you...forgive me?" She says with hope in her eyes.

"Of course I forgive you Lissa. You're my best friend I couldn't avoid you forever ya know." I laugh and she pulls me into a big hug. "Oh yeah..." I say trying to hide my smile as I pull away from her and scratch my neck.

"What? What is it?! Are you ok? Do you have a disease?!" I burst out laughing at her reaction and after a few moments I wipe tears away from my face to see Lissa scowling. "What's so funny?" She says and crosses her arms over her chest.

"Well I have something to tell you but I'm not going to if you're scowling at me like that." I pout and she instantly stands up straight then clears her throat.

"Ok go on..." She says getting impatient.

"Well um...two days ago...Dimitri uh asked me to be..." I mumble knowing it would get on her nerves.

"Asked you to be what?!" She almost shrieks with excitement.

"He asked me to be...his girlfriend!" I yell and she runs to me and pulls me into her arms.

"Oh my gosh I'm so happy for you Rose but...where is he? I figured you would spend every possible moment together." She awkwardly says and I frown.

"Uh there was another runaway student yesterday so he left at dusk to take care of it." I say and scratch my head.

"Oh...well I'm sure he'll be fine he can take care of himself you know?" She says trying to cheer me up and I nod. "You wanna come sleep in my dorm with me tonight? Not like a sleepover or anything...I hate those." She says with a frown on her face and I laugh.
She always manages to cheer me up just by being herself.

"Hell yeah. Some girl time with my vampire sounds fun." I laugh and she scowls.

"And you know how I feel about the V word." She groans but I just smile and pack a bag, making sure to grab Dimitri's shirt.

When we made it to Lissa's apartment, I made sure to change into my pajamas, because it was rather hot at night here. "Um Rose did you go shopping by yourself again? Because you're shirt looks like a men's and way to big." Lissa laughs and I smile as I pull the sleeve over my hand.

"Um...Dimitri gave it to me before he left so I could feel like he was still here. Obviously not physically..." I say.

"Oh Rose I'm sorry I had no ide-"

"It's fine." I interrupt and smile. "So what do you wanna do Princess?"
I ask as I look around her dorm for something to do...nothing of course.

"Uh I'm actually quite hungry actually..." She says and I smile.

"You know I'll go with you if you want. Well...no I have to because I am your guardian." I say trying to act tough and we both giggle. "Just let me put some pants on and we'll go."

A few minutes later we had made the short walk to the "cafeteria" for Moroi and I instantly scrunched my nose. I always hated the smell of the blood here. Mostly because there was so much of it. "Ok you go on ahead I'll wait out here so I don't puke." I say and she laughs then heads down the hallway to her feeder.

I sit on a nearby couch and pull my knees up to my chest and inhale Dimitri's shirt. He always smelled very manly but sometimes there was a hint of honey and apples. I wonder if it was his shampoo? Or his body soap? I laugh at my stupidity and close my eyes.

{Dream}

I was running through a very dark forest which seemed to never end no matter how many twists and turns I made. I kept having this feeling something was going to grab me so I would propel faster and I almost tripped every time I did. But I wouldn't allow myself to trip, I wouldn't die. As I jump over a fallen tree a Strigoi appears in front of me and I scream as it grabs me and throws me against a tree. The last thing I see before I am unconscious is Ms.Karp's smiling face.

{End Of Dream}

I jolt awake and sweat clings to my body making me groan. I hadn't had a dream about a Strigoi in what seemed like forever. As I stand up I stretch and notice Lissa coming around the corner, wiping blood from her mouth. Uh gross. "Hey...you ok?"
She asks and puts her hand on my arm and I just nod.

"Uh I had a nightmare...Ms.Karp was a Strigoi and attacked me..." I whisper and her grip on my arm tightens.

"I'm sure it was just a dr-" I felt like someone was watching us as we exited the "cafeteria" and I quickened our pace a little. "What is it Rose?" She asks trying to catch up with me.

"I feel like someone's following us. Don't turn around." I whisper as quiet as I can and she smiles.

"Rose you're probably still paranoid from your nightmare there's no one around. See." She says and we do a full three-sixty. Absolutely no one around and I sigh.

"I'm sorry it's just...never mind." I whisper and we start walking to her dorm again. When we round the corner of the main school building I hear a twig snap and quickly turn around to see no one there. I scoff, angry that I'm allowing myself to be paranoid.

"Rose..." Lissa whimpers and I laugh.

"Lissa stop trying to sca- LISSA!" I scream as I turn back around to see a Strigoi holding Lissa around the neck, strangling her.
