Chasing the storm

Scarlett stormed quickly out of the compound, the taste of Elijah Mikaelson on her lips still lingered for hours after, the explosion she felt inside of her, still yet to calm.

She wasn't crying because she shouldn't have done that, because it was practically cheating on Alex. She was crying because she enjoyed it, she felt more there after one kiss with Elijah than she has ever done with every single touch and thought of Alex.

She unlocked her phone. Her finer guiding her to the message page where she typed in Elijah's name and began to type. I want to be with you.

But she stopped. Deleting the text and changing the recipient to Alex I'll be there in 5.

She was meeting him at Rousseau's to talk about everything and anything they needed to to try and make this work. Part of her just wanted to call it quits.

She had left in such a whirlwind, she never really got a close look at Elijah and how upset he might've been when she said she loved Alex.

His heart must have broke as hers was. Maybe it was Elijah she was meant to be with, maybe she shouldn't do this.

By this time, she was already in the bar, but her mind filled with doubts and she stood up, ready to run out of that door.

But when she stood, the sound of a glass hitting the bar stopped her and made her spin around.

"From the guy across the bar" The bartender Scarlett knew as Bennie pointed behind him and stepped to the side, revealing Alex sat on the other side, wiggling his fingers in a small wave.

She tried to force her smile, but the one and only thing stealing her thoughts away was Elijah. The man at the other side of the bar, now standing up and making his way towards her, was regretfully, not Elijah Mikaelson.

Scarlett cupped her hand around the alcohol filled glass "Wow, stiff drinks before 12, I'd never thought I'd ever be doing this" she half-heartedly laughed, referring the line she said when they first met.

"I'd never thought I'd be sat in a bar about to beg on my knees for the girl I love to forgive my actions" He half-smiled, the type of smile that would capture the attention of any girl, and for that split second when the sick feeling went away, Scarlett actually felt like she could settle. "Only a few years ago I said to myself I would never love the same woman for the rest of my life" Okay, maybe that was a few centuries ago, but he couldn't really admit that.

"Go on then" She allowed him to begin the grovelling

"I'm a big dick, a colossal dick to be exact, I should have really noticed how much you were trying to make this work, and I should have paid more attention to you instead of getting completely blind drunk and scaring the hell out of you when I turned up to your apartment" He began, speaking quickly "I never meant to hurt you and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, so we can give this a proper go, and I mean proper, I mean I'm going to bring you red roses every morning and I'll take you out on so many dates you'll get sick of me" His pleading was working, she was slowly pushing Elijah out of her mind in hopes that her and Alex would go back to normal, because that was the only thing she knew and she didn't want to risk throwing it away for something that might not even last a week.

"I prefer orange Lilies" She laughed quietly "But other than that, that sounds perfect"

"So there is only one question left to ask" he began slowly, his eyes flickered as he gazed at her, there was some worry showing in her face, and she looked a bit nauseous, did he make her nervous? or was there something on her mind? the questions spun through his mind like a speeding carousel "Will you be my girlfriend again?"

She tilted her head, the edges of her lips curled "No" she said

"what?" Alex looked distraught, he looked hurt and he couldn't figure out why she was giggling like a little girl "why?" The first thing that came across his mind, wasn't that she might be joking, It was Elijah.

"I'm joking you fool" she pushed his shoulder slightly "After a speech like that, how could a girl say no?"

Alex exhaled in such a relief, he laughed as he smiled "You little..." He began as he stood up and threw his coat over himself, snaking his arms through.

"Wait, where are you going?" She asked him, grabbing a hold of his hand tightly

"We are going to the compound, we have some good news to spread" he said excitedly

Scarlett's smile dropped from her face, she didn't want to go there. Not now, not ever really.

Rip the band aid of sooner, it might be sore but you won't have to do it in the future.

"Okie dokie" she swallowed
