"Where the hell have you been?" Freya rarely acted like a mother, she felt like a mere teenager half of the time as her teenage years were stripped from her. But in this case, the sickening worry she half shared with Klaus was very mother like, very real.

Scarlett didn't look the same. Well, of course she wouldn't with the 6 foot frat boy standing behind her.

"I've been busy" Scarlett made up, her fingers were interlocked with the strange mans as she was immediately halted at the door.

"Scarlett it has been 2 hours since Elijah was buried and you've turned to sleeping with strangers" Freya lectured, a fire began in her stomach as anger rose.

"Stop whining Freya" Scarlett rubbed her temples, obviously the lack of emotions played havoc with her head "we won't be doing much sleeping anyway"

"You've abandoned your emotions" Klaus stepped forward, his fingers linked behind his back as he examined her state. Her eyes were full and her mouth had lost that cute resting smile.

"...and?" She asked after a long pause, shrugging her shoulders as if it were no big deal.

"Your life looked so dull without Elijah you had to resort to this?" Freya almost spat at her, she tried to hold down her anger whilst taking her on a guilt trip.

"My life looked boring" she said with dead eyes "I spiced it up a bit, and Brodie is here to help... For an hour or so anyway"

The frat boy didn't look phased, all he thought was that he was going to get lucky with this girl, and walk out. He wouldn't expect the blood bath and pain as soon as they'd finished fooling around.

"You're speaking as if he were nothing but a distraction to you. Scarlett you loved him" Freya was almost in tears again, she had only just stopped sobbing from the funeral.

"Yes, Freya. I did love him but he's gone, he's left me and us so why can't we move on" Scarlett argued " he's gone"

"Was he really the only one stopping you from becoming this? I know you had some trouble but you stayed with your emotions when he was alive" Freya observed "and he didn't leave, he died!"

"Well he isn't here and for the time that he isn't, being it short or long, I'm going to have fun and not sit around and sulk like both of you" Scarlett almost shouted in reply "I didn't realise you'd be so ... Boring! Come on, let's get out of here"

Scarlett pushed the boy out of the door. She felt her emotions banging on in her body, as if they were trapped in some sort of cage. She could feel herself wanting to scream and shout and cry for him. She wanted to turn around and cry about how Elijah had left her alone and it was all her fault.

But on the outside, she looked emotionless. But not when Freya used her power to cause a brain aneurism, over and over again.

"You're not being let out of our sight. We've already lost one person. And god knows what you'd do" Freya spoke over the incisive noise that Scarlett could hear.

She screamed a little bit, but that was only because her emotions were surfacing. All she had to do was close her eyes again and find that dark space inside of her.

And the pain dulled. "You can't keep me here, you're all nothing to me"

She took the boy by his forearm and sped off, before Freya or Klaus could even speak.

Freya turned to Klaus with hatred in her eyes. She was fuming, how dare she do this and especially on the day of Elijah's funeral.

Klaus, on the other hand, understood what Scarlett did and why. Most of the time, they never really saw eye to eye, and they didn't speak much. But he felt the jealousy rise in him. She could turn them off but he couldn't, he was too old.

"It's her anger speaking" Klaus defended her "she's angry with herself, she's blaming herself and that's why she needed them off. It feels like she's dying all over again"

He didn't speak out of empathy, he spoke out of sympathy. Because Klaus had also felt that kind of pain when the people he cared about died because of him. "We just need to stop her if she does anything stupid"
