Scarlett had the boy kissing her neck when an unimaginable hunger came across her. So, she rolled he head back, stretching her neck and allowing time for her fangs to extend from her mouth.
"Enough" she grabbed his chin with one hand and the back of his hand with another "I have something better in mind"
"Y-your face?" He asked, pointing in an absolute horror. "What the hell?"
"Oh shut up" she groaned "I'm a vampire, yes I'm going to kill you. To answer your questions and save us a hell of a lot of time"
She buried her fangs deep into his neck and felt a bolt of electricity as the warm liquid dropped on her tongue and trailed down her throat.
"Alright that's enough, leave the poor boy alone" the voice sounded very familiar to her, too familiar. And when she realised who it was, she instantly dropped the boy.
"Who are you to tell me what to do?" She used her index finger to wipe the excess blood from the corner of her mouth "Alex"
She spun around and came face to face with her dead ex boyfriend. "You can't tell me anything, you're dead" she spat at him, before physically running away. She didn't give any chance for him to speak. On the outside, she looked as confident as ever. On the inside, she was scared and she was panicking after seeing her dead ex boyfriend.
When she thought she lost him, she quickly looked back and sighed in relief. Her back found the wall of a private alley and she lowered herself down to the floor. Again, peering out from the corner to check. This couldn't be real.
"You can't run from me love" he made her jump as he appeared from the other side of her "I'm in your head, there is no running from that"
She brushed the comment off. He looked like Alex, he sounded like Alex. He couldn't be just in her head.
"Take it as the more humane side of you wanting to burst out, but instead of shouting at you inside of your head, your subconscious is creating a sort of- Angel on your right shoulder, because you listen to me" he explained.
So he was a slice of her subconscious, and that meant she could just stop it if she concentrated hard enough. But one question ran through her head.
"Why Alex and why not Elijah?" Alex interrupted her thoughts
"How did you..."
"Scarlett, I'm literally part of your head, I'm not real" he urged "you don't know why you haven't imagined Elijah up, so I don't know"
"I'm sick of this conversation" she did enjoy his company and she knew this was as close as she'd get to Alex again. But he was making her feel actual emotions, and she didn't want to.
Maybe she didn't appoint Elijah the voice of good in her head because she knew that if she ever saw him, her emotions would just flick back on. And then she'd be left with a utter void in her stomach.
"Scarlett, no" he tried to bring her back to the conversation, but she shut her eyes and when she opened them. He had gone.
"Good riddance" she murmured to herself as she pushed herself up from the floor. The whole event actually shook her up, even though it was self inflicted.
He's not real. She kept trying to tell herself, he isn't real.
Scarlett found herself feeling dizzy as she fell against another wall. Her hands raised to her forehead to shut her eyes and rub it.
And when she opened her eyes, she was in the cemetery where Elijah had been buried.
"You can't just teleport people without their permission Davina!" She growled "it hurts"
"Davina I want to know what the meaning of this is" Klaus stormed in to the cemetery as Scarlett regained her thoughts
"What's going on?" She asked as she saw Klaus walk in by the side of Freya. She didn't look too impressed with Scarlett, she still had a few specks of blood on her top.
"I'd lose the attitude if you want your brother back, Klaus" Davina snapped and watched Klaus silently surrender
"Which brother?" He huffed, there were so many he had lost count
"Kol, of course" she replied
"Then why am I here?" Scarlett asked, her mind still fizzled from the Alex appearance and the teleportation.
"Out of all the vampires Scarlett, I actually like you" she turned to her "and seeing you as an emotionless monster doesn't suit well. With the power of bringing back Kol, I'll have some energy left, I can bring another back"
"What's the catch?" She asked, her body freezing on the spot
"There is no catch" Davina shrugged "you just have to choose between Alex or Elijah"
Scarlett's breath caught in her throat. An unimaginable and overwhelming fear came across her and the guilt of having to choose. She had been reunited with her emotions, in a subtle way that she wasn't expecting.
It wasn't all fireworks and tears of joy or sadness. It was crippling and nauseating, the emotions she had been brought back to were the ones that made her leave.
"I-I don't know" she stuttered, her lips parted as she tried to say more. She couldn't look at Klaus, she knew what he wanted.
But what did she want? Of course a few hours ago it was Elijah, it would 100% be Elijah that she resurrected. But the encounter with Alex, that brought back memories and certain feelings that she had forgotten.
It had been weeks since Alex had died and she had forgotten what it was like to be in his company. And when it came to the emotions within her head attempting to re connect, she chose Alex.
"Scarlett. You know what you truly want. What we all want" klaus tried to intervene and convince her otherwise, but Davina stopped him.
"You have until the full moon tomorrow night, Scarlett" she said "but for now I need to burn their bodies to ash to ready for the spell"
"I'll get you an answer before you begin tomorrow" she said not very confidently "for now I want to be alone"
She sped off and stopped when she knew she was out of sight and hearing range. Her hand flew to her mouth as she caught the sobs so nobody else could hear her.
Who the hell would she choose?
