"My power has fully recharged" Freya grabbed Alex and pulled him away from whatever he was doing "I think I am strong enough to do the spell"
Alex looked around for anyone listening in and then spoke quietly "you think?" He paraphrased "Freya I am not basing my hopes of reuniting with my dead ex girlfriend on your thoughts"
"Alex I can do it. Now do you want to come with me or not?" She snapped, knowing that he couldn't resist the urge to go with her, meaning she had the upper hand.
She pulled him out and they both walked to the cemetery in an incomplete and unsure silence. Nobody knew what was going to happen, they could either end their day in utter disappointment of complete satisfaction.
"Get her out" Freya ordered Alex to do, the last time it was really heavy, she could barely do it again. And because Alex had vampire strength, he could do it in the blink of an eye.
Freya grasped onto her necklace, just out of comfort and to make sure she hadn't lost it on the way or left it back at the compound.
"Hello, beautiful" Alex had this smile on his face when he opened the coffin lid, like the face you'd have when you found buried treasure locked away in a box.
Scarlett was the same. Same expressionless face, same skin colour. Her hands were both overlapped on her chest. Elijah's flowers were still there, by her side, beginning to wilt and fall from the stem.
She was still absolutely gorgeous in Alex's eyes. She could be a skeleton that looked like every other skeleton, but he'd still think her as beautiful as he knew the person she was. It didn't matter about looks; but in this case, he considered all of her as perfect. Even though she was no longer his, and he accepted that.
But what he couldn't accept was a lifetime without her. No that life would be unliveable.
"I sure to god hope this works, Freya or else I'll be deathly angry" Alex threatened. In return, Freya lifted her hand and balled it up into a fist, giving Alex the most painful brain aneurism in existence.
"That's right, you have your powers back, can't threaten you now" he blinked sharply and held his head until the pain dulled down to a small twinge and then into nothing. He learnt his lesson, but if Scarlett stays dead, then he'd fight through the pain to make sure Freya meets an end far worse than Scarlett's.
"I'll prove you wrong" she said, unclasping the necklace and pulling it from her neck.
Freya moved Scarlett's hands and placed the gem on her chest, roughly above where her heart should be. "She'll be alive and moving before you know it"
Freya's hands hovered over the dead body, her mouth began to spurt words that Alex couldn't make sense of. She was a special kind of witch, and she used different magic to what Alex was used to.
He sat and twiddled his thumbs, desperately trying to keep his hopes as low as possible. It seemed too good to be true, because looking at Scarlett now, she was completely dead with no signs of life. And of course he had seen people resurrected before, but somehow this seemed different. Maybe because it was a personal matter and not business. Maybe It was because everything never goes his way.
Come on. Please wake up he repeated over and over in his mind until finally...
Scarlett shot up, her mouth open and gasping for breath. Her hands were feeling for her neck as she couldn't breathe properly, but shortly she let go and began to as she would normally.
Her eyes dotted around the room until they laid on what she was sat in and who was staring at her.
"I'm alive?" She asked, feeling her arm and trying to pinch herself. It seemed so surreal, it hadn't been a long time being dead; almost a week in fact. But it felt like years.
"You're very much alive; you clever clever girl" Alex stood up and lifted her from the coffin and onto her feet. She stumbled a bit, but it was only normal from someone who had just survived death.
"I'm alive" she smiled, before grabbing Alex's shoulders and shaking them "Alex I'm alive, I'm really alive" she smiled before jumping up and kissing him on the cheek.
"Freya you got me out" she literally couldn't stop smiling, her cheeks hurt so much.
"What was it like?" Alex asked her. He knew it could be too soon, but his curiosity got the better of him.
Her smiled slowly dropped into something serious. She knew what he was getting at, he wasn't talking about the other side, he had already been there. He was talking about the break down of it.
"It was the second most terrifying moments of my life" she said, obviously number one was watching Elijah die. "I sat in the coffin, where Elijah told me to sit, and I was there for a good while until I realised that you had probably given up" she cycled through the chilling moments.
"I met a witch, who told me that life on the other side as we knew it were over, and soon enough we'll be in the depths of hell itself" she sniffed "Sophie helped me, I didn't know but she allowed my spirit into the necklace in those short moments of it not knowing where to go. But before it took me in, I felt a few moments of what everybody else had in store"
Alex listened intently. Feeing her pain. His stomach lurched when she described the feeling of being left completely alone and scared in an unfamiliar place. If he could have gone through it, he would've.
"It felt, empty. Like they would be alive and aware of where they are, but they would be unreachable and they would be completely and utterly alone, with no one to hear their screams, and they couldn't die. They were stuck there" she spoke as if she was the one being emptied, it was almost her fate but every time she thought of it, she felt as if it was her fate.
But it wasn't. The unexpected happened, and she was reunited with her body and her family. "I am so glad I wasn't taken along with everybody else. Thank you, both of you for helping"
Freya smile "thank you, for bringing Elijah home"
Her ears perked up with the mention of Elijah. The last time she saw him, she was stabbing him with this mystical dagger that sends him back to life. She hadn't seen him Alive since she watched him get staked. Events had kept them apart since then.
"Elijah" she breathed "how is he?"
"Apart from in complete solitude and isolated mourning over the epic love of his life?" Alex asked "he's peachy"
"Can I see him?" She asked "I want to see him"
She paced the room, stumbling and inevitably falling over. Alex was the one to catch her first and sit her on the stone table.
"Right now I think you need rest" Freya said "but I can arrange something for tonight"
