The black, iron bars were the first thing that came to her attention as she woke up. And then came the burning anger. There wasn't much else but anger.

This was her now, this was the new Scarlett. The vampire with nothing but anger issues.

Scarlett stood up and kicked the bars as much as she could. A groan left her lips as she attempted to escape.

"You're a dick" she shouted, jiggling the bars with her hands, knowing Elijah would hear her.

"You honestly thought I would let you go without a fight" he chuckled slightly, it was inappropriate but it was ironic.

"You honestly thought I'd stay quiet in a cage until you're ready to let me out" she pressed her face up against the bars "I'll get out"

"Don't be so silly, dear" Elijah stood closer to the Bars but just out of reach from her "you're in a compound full of vampires whose job is now to keep their eye on you, until you are restored to your normal self"

"You're a selfish bastard" she threw herself back at the bars "I'll kill you for this"

She thought back to the conversation she heard between Elijah and Niklaus. A white horse. Something that will burn them all.

She didn't want him to die, of course. She wanted him to be scared, to finally have the upper hand.

"Please" she cried, breaking all of the silence that had been created with the echo of her last remark, faking her despair in order to appeal to his weaker side.

"I'm not falling for it" Elijah replied. At first, he did. He heard her cries, and his first instinct was to hold her until it stopped. But, he did have experience in this field, soon every human thing dies, but her emotions are still on, turning her into an angry black hole of hardly anything.

"I'm not an animal, you can't cage me like one" Scarlett threw herself on the floor "maybe you'd listen to me if I had this 'white horse' "

The words peaked Elijah's interest more than what she was already. How did she know? His lips parted and he turned his head to the side "how did you know?"

Scarlett burst out with a bubble of laughter, making her body twitch "the best thing about being a newly-turned vampire, I cannot seem to stop listening to other people's conversations"

Elijah wasn't too phased about that. He knew Scarlett was smart, but not that smart, even Elijah couldn't figure out what it meant as of yet, a white horse yet again runs around his mind when he should be focussing on her.

"If you let me out, I can help you" She pleaded, her lips were dry and chapped, she did have a big meal before being locked away, but that only made her want more and more, her body hadn't gotten used to it yet. "If i get out alone, then it is every man for themselves"

"This may not be what you want, and it is definitely what I do not want either. But if it is the only chance I can save you from yourself, then I have to take it" Elijah tried to explain to her, but it was sounding stupid, even to him.

"You cannot just lock people up because they have changed" She huffed "Let me go it alone, let me make my own mistakes, let me go crazy just this once and the odds are I'd return back to you, begging for your help. I just need to experience it, I need to learn the hard way"

"And risk how many lives? Scarlett how many people would it take for you to feel some sort of remorse, not to mention hurting yourself. How many people would you hurt to feel normal again?" He asked and lectured at the same time, showing her that she wasn't going to be let out any time soon.

"As many as it takes" She simply replied

"Even me?" Elijah asked

"Even you" She said the words, she didn't mean to hurt him, she didn't want to. But right now she needed to look out for herself. And by keeping Elijah close whilst being the way she is, was only going to hurt him more.

He stood up straight and brushed the dust from his suit "I didn't want any of this for you"

"neither did I" she whispered as he left "but you just made the biggest mistake"

She jumped to her feet "You didn't think a cage could hold me, I've lost the keys to my apartment a number of times"

Scarlett slid some bobby pins from her head and slowly unpicked the lock. Hearing the strangest of sounds curse her mind.

She slowly opened the door to minimise the amount of noise it made, it was an old door, it creaked loudly.

But still she had a babies laughter stuck in her brain. But why? she thought and thought until she finally clicked.

The baby was Hope, and Hope liked to play with a white horse.
