Alivia's mouth twisted with distaste as Felix handed over a some-what old bow and arrows. "You know how to use it right?" Felix asked placing a sheath of arrows around his shoulders.
She shrugged slightly biting the inside of her mouth. "I've never attempted to honestly," she said quietly adjusting the sheath that felt out of place upon her shoulders. "Well," he started, it was clear that Felix was in deep concentration. "How about we attempt it today, shall we?" He stated more than asked the uncertain girl.
"I suppose, but what happens if I, you know, accidentally shoot someone?" She asked as Felix started guiding them both over to the rest of the camp. "Just try your hardest not to," he answered simply, giving off a smirk.
Alivia sighed in utter defeat "That's very encouraging," she muttered, sarcasm clear in her voice. As she followed the dirty blonde headed boy she realized how much shorter she was compared to everyone else.
She sighed shifting her sheath of arrows on her back once again. As Felix led her to all of the boys that were in the camp she self-consciously looked around herself. The pang of strangeness was all too familiar by now, to be surrounded by hundreds of boys.
It was even more strange to the fact that Alivia only knew three out of the hundreds here. Well, not actually knowing the three boys, but out of association, she had met three boys. As Felix made his way to the front of the cluster of boys, she thought it'd only be best of her if she stayed in the back of all the chaos.
After all it was only her first day. Going up there and acting like she owned the place would be a particularly bad move on her half. As she took her place in the back she could feel the nerve racking thought that someone was watching her boil up inside of her head.
Checking on both sides of her, she found no one looking in her direction, or giving the slightest bit of self-acknowledgment as she stood by some of the lost boys.
She sighed quietly, rolling her eyes to the slightest thought anyone would give her a second glance. "As you all know the rules, just remember to have fun. And let's see who has the best skills in this camp," Felix said, concluding to whatever he was talking about before hand.
Boys started cheering right and left as Felix raised an arm, where as Alivia stayed perfectly silent. And as his arm came down the boys started for the wide spread of trees before them.
As the crowd started to thin out, Alivia took one hesitant step foreword before going in the woods herself. The dark greeted her like it was death itself, quickly and all at once. Which gave her a strange turn in the stomach as she crept foreword.
She hid among the shadows not taking any chances of being seen in the moonlight that peeked through. She came by a squirrel that had two large nuts in its mouth.
Alivia pulled out her bow and arrow, notching the wooden arrow into place. She took a deep breathe concentrating on the target ahead of her. And as she exhaled the arrow went flying hitting the squirrel straight through the head sticking it straight to the tree behind it.
As her gazed focused she had saw two arrows sticking in the squirrel's head right next to hers. Alivia stayed put hidden in the dark waiting for the other shooter to come out.
But no one ever did. She stood on her own two feet, quietly walking out and over to the dead squirrel. She sighed looking down at the creature, crouching down to retrieve the arrow and the animal.
"So you're the other shooter," a voice said coming out of the dark. Alivia jumped to her feet, swirling around to be face to face with a boy. "Who are you?" She questioned looking the boy up and down. "Mathew," the boy answered walking forward.
Alivia felt queasy being around him. Every time he took a step forward she would take a step back. That was until her back hit the hard tree from behind her.
"You know I haven't seen a girl in, well, many years." Mathew said now barely an inch away from Alivia. Her heart started quicken its pace, air not getting to her lungs.
"Thank god the first girl here was you," he said smirking slightly. "Why's that?" She asked softly hoping that the fear in her voice couldn't be heard.
"Because you're a fine looking little lady," he said in response his arm now around her waist. Her breathe hitched her lungs closing making the air supply drop. "If you dare scream I'll make sure an arrow goes to your heart, say that I shot three times. Two hitting the squirrel one hitting you," he whispered in her ear.
She held a cry back as his other hand now touched her mid-thigh. "I'll let you take the squirrel," he spoke softly. "Why?" She managed to get out her eyes locking with his own.
"Because I'll be taking something from you too," he said quietly pushing himself against her. She winced as the wounds on her back that weren't completely healed yet become irritated.
"Please don't," she said her head dropping. "Sorry sweetheart this isn't a yes or no discussion," he answered. His lips touched her bare neck making her squirm in discomfort. She thought through a plan. A plan that could actually work.
But before he could do anything else a fist connected to his jaw with so much impact he stumbled to the ground in surprise. "Peter?" The boy said in disbelief. "I made sure no one was anywhere close, who'd you know?" The boy sneered.
Alivia looked over to Peter. He had a look of pure hatred at the boy, and yet a smirk still founds its place on his mouth.
"I know everything that happens on my island," he answered in response, a look of fear finally taking over Mathew's face.
