It's been weeks since the accident and Drew hasn't made any improvements of waking up. I've been visiting the hospital everyday, I've lost out on a lot of sleep, my hair hasn't been brushed in days, I've bags under my eyes.
I was getting a cup of coffee in the canteen when I felt a hand on my back, I froze. 'It'll be okay Madi.' I turned to look at Justin, I practically jumped on him and cried into his shoulders.
Justin secured his arms around me and I didn't want to let go. 'Thank you' I whispered. I dropped down to the ground and I smiled up at Justin, he is too tall.
I giggled and finished making my coffee. 'You look tired Madi, why don't you go home and go to sleep' I shook my head. I turned my body and walked away from Justin. 'Madison you need to sleep, your exhausted and I want to help you.' I laughed, ''Nobody can help me.''
I stormed off towards Drew's room and I seen Parker, Andrew's ex, sitting at Drew's bedside.
I walked in to the room slowly, 'What are you doing here Parker?' I squinted my eyes.
He looked up at me with sad eyes, 'He looks so peaceful'.
'Parker, What do you want?' I crossed my arms. 'Please Madi, I needed to see him.' I rolled my eyes. 'You didn't care when you left him for Jay, Why do you care now?' I breathed in and out, I didn't want to snap.
'That was a mistake, When I heard what happened, I needed to be here.' He snapped his eyes at me. Oh here we go, angry Parker again. Never gets old. 'You don't scare me Parker, If Drew woke up, I'm sure he wouldn't want to see you.'
Parker stood up, he let go of Drew's hand. He walked around the bed and stopped in front of me. 'Fine, I'll go, but Jay was a mistake'
Justin appeared after Parker left and I sat in the hospital chair. I stared at Drew while his chest rose up and down. 'Why?' I asked quietly.
'Why what?'
'Why won't he just wake up?'
'Madi, you know it's not that simple'
'I have waited for weeks, I want him back'
A small tear rolled down my cheek. 'It gets harder everyday Juju' Just wiped away my tears with his thumb. 'It's getting late, let me drive you home.' I shook my head slowly.
'I think I'm going to stay the night.' Justin gave me a small smile and kissed my forehead. 'I'll check on you tomorrow. I love you Madi' he said as he was the door. I gave him a small smile.
'I love you too Juju'
He left and I tucked my legs under me, I rested my head on the chair and listened to the rain hit the window. I slowly drifted in and out of sleep for that night.
When I woke the next morning, Drew was still the same. So I went to get some breakfast. I ate in the canteen on my own, and then I walked the halls of the hospital.
I wrapped my arms around my self and slowly studied the pictures on the walls, they were so beautiful.
While I was studying the pictures, a couple of doctors ran past me in the directions of Andrews room, but I thought nothing of it.
''Who is the patient?' I heard a doctor say. 'Mr. Campbell sir' A nurse said. My breathe hitched, whats wrong with Drew? no, please tell me hes awake.
I ran after them and a swarm of nurses and doctors surrounded Andrew's bed, 'His heart rate is dropping sir!'
'We need to shock him, warm the defibrillators please' there was nurses running in and out, I just looked through the window wondering what was happening.
I just stared, I felt numb. They shocked him and then there was nothing. They shocked him again but still nothing, they tried a few more times but nothing happened. His heart rate went flat, and everything around me just blurred out. 'We have lost him sir' The looks on the nurses was like they seen there cat die.
'Madi' 'Madison' 'Madison!' I heard someone yell my name, I stared at Drew's lifeless body, everything slowed down. It was like my whole world torn apart.
'Madison' I heard someone again, I looked to my left and there stood a nurse and Justin. 'I'm sorry Ms. Beer, we have lost him.' he lowered his head, before walking away. 'I'm sorry Madi'
I ignored Justin and walked into Drew room, he just lay, still as nothing. I took his hand into mine and just held it. I shook my head at Drew. 'You said you'd never leave me. I need you'
