Dear anonymous,

I was only in Sydney for a week two years ago. The tour guide said that we were on a tight schedule but we had to at least take pictures of the Olympic Park. So, me and the American dude got off the bus to take pictures.

The bus was parked way up front so the both of us had quite a ways to jog and were under pressure from everyone else in the bus. He had a head start and just snapped some random pictures with his phone while I had to take my time. Aim, adjust, aim, focus, shoot. Art isn't something that can be done simply, it takes time and precision.

Once I was done, I jogged off to the bus but you caught my attention as I was midway between steps. You and your mother were genuinely smiling and waving in my direction. At first, I looked around because it felt weird that you guys would smile and wave at me. Once I made sure that you guys really were smiling and waving at me, I actually felt happy that strangers would do that. It gave me a little hope, I waved back and smiled a toothy smile. Mind you, I never smile with my teeth showing.

We missed the ferry because I lagged behind those measly seconds. But I'm glad I stopped and smiled back, that moment will always last forever. Kind strangers who smiled and waved. Not in a creepy way, just a passer-by.

Love,

Guy who swears he's not a park pedophile.
