Brigitte's Suite

She had already turned off the lights and was in a sleep wake state when her phone started vibrating. Brigitte turned towards the bedside table to see Don's name flashing on the screen and reached for it immediately.

"Don? Is everything okay?" Brigitte asked concerned.

"Hey! Yeah..umm...sorry if I woke you up!Umm...uh..Meryl's phone is switched off, we were supposed to talk..."

"Oh, yeah I heard. I think she must've slept off Don..she was very tired, poor girl!"

"Yes, but she's okay right?" Don implored.

"Yes sir, dropped her off to the suite myself!" Brigitte joked.

"Haha, thanks a lot! I'll talk to her in the morning then! Sorry to disturb you, good night Brigitte!"

"Yes, don't worry, good night!" Brigitte said and rolled off to sleep.

12:30 a.m.

Suddenly Meryl woke up with a start, her mind a complete blank canvas before all the nightmares started coming back, her breathing coming in uneven spurts almost making her hyperventilate as she looked around in the pitch dark to see the presence of another human in the room. There was pin drop silence. Whichever monster had done this to her must've left.

If not for the mind-numbing ache in her body she'd like to believe that all that had happened was the worst nightmare she'd had, untrue, just a dream. She tried to fumble around to look for her phone finally finding it. The screen had broken and it was switched off.

She switched it on again and then tried to stand up using all her might against the terrible pain which seemed to have invaded every part of her body.

The whole room came into view once she'd used to the phone's light to key in the card. That's when she let the first sob leave her body.

Right in front of her was where the monster had..saying the word would make it more real. There were torn pieces of her clothing on the floor and light stains of blood on the carpeted floor.

As she slowly lowered her eyes to her body that was when her entire being just gave away and she sank onto the floor in a sobbing mess, her entire frame shaking with strangled sobs coming out in brief spurts of agony.

She wanted Don right now more than anything. To be in his embrace, in his warmth and protection away from this nightmare she'd found herself in. She was almost about to dial his number when she realized she'd scare him beyond his wits and he wouldn't be able to do anything from so far away.

So even in all of her painful haze she decided to call Brigitte first. As her phone kept ringing she almost began to lose hope that she'd pick up when at last she did.

"Meryl?" Brigitte said sleepily.

No sound from the other side.

"Meryl? Don said your phone was switched off..are you there?"

A single muffled sob broke out.

"My God! Meryl! What's wrong?" Brigitte suddenly sounded completely alert, all signs of sleep gone from her voice.

"Meryl? Please say something!"

"I....I need you here." That's all that Brigitte required to hear to gauge the pain in her friend's voice.
