Sam's POV:
I finally managed to open the box Jason gave me. In the box was a locket. It wasn't any ordinary locket, I remember when I gave Jason this same locket to him back in elementary school. The locket was meant to symbolize the start of our friendship. It kind of sounded cheesy now but we were kids back then. I can't believe he actually kept this locket for so long. I thought he would've lost it, but he actually managed to keep it.
There was also a small sticky note inside the box. "The start of it all, love you best friend -J"
I smiled down at the note and held the locket tight. My heart was beating rapidly and my mind was going crazy. Jason is literally the cutest human being. I wish I could just jump into his arms right now and hold him forever.
I wrapped the locket around my neck and admired it in the mirror. It still looked so beautiful, this locket was actually first owned by my grandma, then my grandma passed it down to my mom after she passed away. Then my mom gave it to me. "Sam I want you to have this, maybe one day you'll also pass it down to someone you truly care about" was her exact words when she first placed it in my hands. I sometimes still hear the sound of her sweet and innocent voice in my head. God I miss her so much.
There was a knock on the door, Grace walked in momentarily looking all dolled up. She didn't look like her usual self. She would normally be dressed in old ripped jeans and oversized sweaters but tonight she was dressed in a beautiful white gown and her hair was perfectly styled up. Not to mention, her makeup was unbelievably good, I'm lowkey jealous her makeup skills are better than mine.
"Someone looks too sexy tonight" I said to her. She cringed at me.
"Ew mom can you not use the word sexy, it's weird hearing it from you" she said.
"Why are you dressed up, you better not be going on any dates"
"Oh so I can't go on dates but you can?" She said. I didn't know what she was talking about at first.
"I never went on dates what are you talking about" technically I did go on a date, with Jason. That night that turned into a mess counted as a date although he forced me to go.
"You know you should win an award for the worst liar, drop the acting Mom, I know you and Jason been fooling around" she gave me a smirk. My cheeks turned bright red. How does she know? Jason probably told her, that boy always had a big mouth.
"Why would I fool around with a person like Jason, he's not even my type" I lied with a straight face.
"I notice how you look at him whenever he's around, admit it that you're obsessed with him" she said.
"Would you look at the time" I looked down at my wrist that had no watch at all. "I think you're late for your date" I put in all my force to push her out the room.
"Jason and Sam sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g" she childishly sang. Before she could finish the song, I slammed the door in her face.
Jason's POV:
I knew he couldn't be trusted, I just had the feeling. He's probably the one who told that person to come after me. I was now his target but I don't understand why. He had the nerve to act so friendly to me earlier too. I'm not surprised that he's trying to come after me, I mean I am trying to get in between him and Sam's relationship, he probably already started assuming that I liked her or something.
I held the picture of James in my hand. So this is the face of the biggest criminal. He didn't even seem intimidating or threatening. He looked like the type of person to back out of a fight before the fight actually starts.
