After that surprising proposal, Jason insisted that he had to leave. He said some important business task came up but I think he's only leaving because he's mad at the proposal. I don't understand why he was mad, I thought he would move on by now. He can't actually still have feelings for me. What we had back then was 15 years ago. A lot changed since those 15 years. I moved on and it's time for him to do the same.
As he walked out the door I followed behind him. "Jason, wait" I called out. He stopped and faced me.
"Sam I really have to go..." He said lowly.
"Are you mad at me?" I said hesitantly.
"Why would I be mad?" He said giving me a fake smile.
"Jason don't play dumb with me I know that you're mad at me for saying yes to that proposal"
He took a step closer to me. "You're happy right?" That's the only question I didn't know the answer to.
"I guess" I responded.
He sighed, "do you really love him?" Silence broke between us then.
"I did say yes to him right?" I said. He didn't look too convinced.
"That wasn't my question, do you love him?" Jason repeated himself again. Before I could answer, James walked in on us.
"It's getting late honey you should probably come inside" he placed his arms around my shoulder. Jason just shook his head and went to his car. I watched him drive off into the night's darkness.
James was too stocked about all of this. I couldn't even fall asleep, he was too busy babbling on about how the wedding is going to be planned, when it's gonna be planned, who's invited and not invited. It was actually giving me a headache. We just got engaged why is he rushing all of this. We can plan the wedding later on in a couple of months or so, why was he so eager to get married already?
"James don't take this the wrong way but would you just shut the fuck up for a minute please" I said in a cranky voice.
"What's wrong?" He said, pressing his body close to mine and wrapping his arms around me. I wasn't in the mood to cuddle or have sex with him tonight.
"Nothing is wrong, I just need some time to think" I said.
"Think about what, you already made your decision, aren't you happy with it" He was starting to get frustrated.
"Of course I'm happy with my decision but we can't rush all of this James"
"We've been together for years now can't we just get this wedding thing over with" over with? I want my wedding day to be the most memorable day of my life, not something I want to get over with.
"Our wedding day is supposed to be the most special day and you just want to get it over with?" He's unbelievable sometimes.
"I didn't mean it like that" he said. I rolled my eyes and ignored his words. I had a long day today I don't have time for him right now. I forced myself to drift off to sleep.
Jason's POV:
My assistant poured me a hot cup of coffee. I drank coffee way too much, it was actually nasty but this is the only thing to keep me awake throughout my stressful days. My desk was piled with papers. I ran my fingers through my hair with frustration. I had to sign and fill out all of these papers from different companies, wow being rich is actually hard. I honestly miss my normal basic life. When everything was easier and I didn't have to do shit.
"Could you get me another cup of coffee" I said, already half done with the cup in my hand.
"You need to slow down on the caffeine or you're going to be jumpy, how about I finish up this work for you?" Heather, my assistant, said to me.
