I felt James eyes on us as we made our way downstairs. Jason and I tried to act as if nothing happened at all, we didn't want to seem too suspicious. We were already gone longer than we should have but I don't think anyone suspected we were doing "something else" upstairs. The party continued on and I tried to blend in with the crowd of joyful people. Jason went back to his french girl and automatically started flirting with her. I tried not to trip about it because I knew he was just pretending to flirt as a cover up.

After the party ended people started leaving, the house was completely trashed. I was not in the mood to spend hours trying to clean the place. I wish I was rich enough to have a maid or something but sadly I'm the maid in this house.

Jason was the last person to leave, before he left, he secretly placed a small box on my hand and smiled up at me, "don't miss me too much beautiful, I'll be back" he whispered. My heart fluttered at his words. This boy will be the death of me.

James walked up behind me, Jason immediately kept his distance from me.

"Thanks again for coming man, you can drop by any time we should get to know each other more" James said. It was weird hearing those words from him especially when he lowkey can't stand Jason. What made him change his mind about him?

"No thanks for having me here, I had a good time and congrats on your engagement you two.." he paused and looked at me. "You two make a good couple" his mouth curved into a crooked smile. Something was telling me he's just forcing those words out.

"I'm a lucky guy aren't I" James said and squeezed me tight, kissing my cheek. I gave him a fake laugh, as if I was enjoying this moment but lowkey I hated it because I would rather have Jason kiss me on the cheek like that.

"You better hold tight to her before someone steals her away from you" Jason said. How ironic. That must've been a joke to James but Jason was definitely serious about it.

"Jason my feet are killing me let's go babe" Natasha called out.

"I have to go, maybe I'll drop by again" Jason said to us. "I'll see you later bro" he gave James a goodbye handshake.

"I'll see you later Sam" he squeezed my hand as his eyes stared into mine. Can later just come already.

He then left out the door and drove off in his Audi. I looked at the box he gave me, I was eager to open it but I didn't want to open it in front of James. I know he was gonna make a big deal about it.

"What's that?" He said to me looking at the box. Fuck, too late.

"Oh nothing..just a gift from some old lady" I lied. He didn't look convinced at all. I hate how I sucked at lying sometimes.

"Open it up" he said.

"I can't because she told me it was something special inside and I should wait for the right time to open it" I tried to keep a straight face while saying that.

"Oh okay, if its special then you should keep it to yourself" he smiled. We then stood there in awkward silence, he just kept looking at me for some reason.

"What?" I finally spoke.

"Sam what made you go upstairs after Jason told that little story to everyone, you seemed pretty upset" his tone of voice got more serious. I couldn't tell him the real reason why but I also can't think of any excuse. My only option was to play dumb.

"What do you mean?" I replied.

"I also noticed Jason went upstairs afterwards also" he was starting to get his suspicions.
